  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had past experience with Long. In 2010, I bought my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GT through them when they were Long Pontiac and Hyundai; they were typical dealers, nothing too bad and I honestly got that car for a good deal. In May of last year, I knew my 2010 Fusion was going to die soon so I went by Long, having a decent experience in the past.

I first went on a Friday, intending to look at a newer Elantra when I saw that 2015 3.8 in Montecito Blue. My wife saw it, too. I tried to be neutral, didn't test drive it initially but I loved the look of it and the feel of the interior. I looked at other cars the rest of the day, a few Volkswagens. I started to research that 3.8. It was listed at 15,900 and my research showed it was a pretty good deal.

So with my dad in tow, to help me not get screwed over, we went the very next day. We were met by a young sales associate who let us test drive it. It was amazing, especially compared to that Ford. After the test drive, Gavin asked a few questions, notified us that the price was 16,700 (!), and asked how we'd like to go about negotiating. When I said it was 15,900 the previous day he declared that it never was and it was another one that had sold a few weeks prior. When I also told him we'd be financing and trading in my car, he said he wasn't sure whether they'd take such an old car (?) and they usually only take cash for cars like this (!?).

Decided to go through with it and determined that if they tried to screw me over anymore I'd walk away. They came and said they'd lower it to 15,900 (like it was some great service) and would take 2,000 for my car. They wound up asking for 1,800 additional down and my payments are $300/mo. Told the sales rep the left turn signal was out, he scoffed and said that couldn't be the case but he'd tell service. Yeah, it was still out when I left. Never got my bill of sale either.

After buying the car, I waited 2 months for my plate to arrive. After I got fed up, called down there and got stonewalled. A week later I showed up and they said I needed to get the emissions testing done. Excuse me, isn't that your job? Regardless, why wasn't I contacted about this? Oh, on top of it all? You could go onto their website that day and pull up the car at 15,900.

But since they're the only Genesis dealer in the area, I will use them for oil changes as I won't be saving much doing it myself but you can bet your ass their dealership logo is getting erased once I pay the car off.

Tl;Dr: Shady, will attempt to screw you over, incompetent, and rude - typical dealers stuff but just seemingly worse.

Why wait to get rid of the dealership logo? Mine never lasted more than an hour. Seems like a lot of dealers are having problem getting titles in time recently.

The 2015 did go through turn signal bulbs faster than most but it still should have been taken care of

Crappy dealer experience aside, hope you enjoy the car. That is a very nice shade of blue too.

I'm just choosing to wait get rid of the dealership logo as a kind of pay off goal. With the bulbs, I went through 2 sets before I learned to just leave my headlights on and not use auto lights. But yeah, other than the turn signals and a battery issue (which I seem to always have with my new cars) it's been wonderful and I agree it is a very nice blue.
