  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all. Long time no see. I was on this forum long ago with a 2012 3.8 sedan. Got rid of it long ago.

Now, I’m wanting a new car and I have an opportunity at a 2013 R-Spec with low miles.

Couple of questions.

There is Bluetooth audio streaming this model year, correct? I remember my 2012 did not.

Any issues with the engine? Memory serves me that mid 2012 and beyond build dates for the 5.0 were resolved (oil consumption).

Any issues with the stereo? My ‘12 has a buzzing issue that they didn’t seem to fix. Replaced expensive head unit.

Lastly, does the 2013 have remote start? I thought Blue Link came out around this time but I can’t recall.

I’m on my phone so sorry if I didn’t search this stuff all out. Hopefully somebody can shoot back with quick answers.

Thanks again!

I have a 13 rspec , purchased with 35k on the odometer, now have 96k
Issues major had tranny replaced at 56k
No issues yet with new one,
Had stereo re programmed once at dealer
Wouldn’t work fixed issue hasn’t happend again
Some oil consumption as stated
Just found a small oil leak going to dealer next week for that
Back up camera had a few hiccups were it was just black screen or static ...solved itself
Clear coat issue ( pearl white problem)
Other than that everything has gone smooth
No it didn’t come with remote start
But blue link not subscribed for me

The '12 base and premium package models both had streaming Bluetooth audio. However, tech package models including R-Spec did not. In '13, all models stream BT audio.

No engine problems were common in '13, nor were there extensive audio problems.

Yes

No issues at all with mine and I am at 98k miles currently. I change with regular oil at the dealership every 4-6k miles (whenever I can get there)

original owner replaced the headunit when basically new - zero issues since

negative on remote start

2013 or 2014 Rspec vehicles would be a great buy. REMEMBER the gas mileage is NOT like the V6. Mostly around town driving will yield 16-18mpg, mix 19-20mpg, 100% highway 25-28mpg depending on speed

Thanks again!

I've got a 2014 R-Spec, which I believe is very similar to the 2013 in these regards. To answer your questions, but speaking authoritatively only of the 2014 R-Spec:

1. Yes, it has Bluetooth streaming. I can use my iPhone to play through the amazing sound system.

2. Three years into ownership and the stereo is still amazing. YMMV.

3. It has remote start (through BlueLink for an annual subscription) as well as remote lock/unlock, lights/horn on, valet alert (which I use frequently), speed alert and geo-fence. I sometimes use the last two when my car is at the dealer. I want to know if they take it for a joyride. I have the speed alert set to 60.
