  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking for pricing inputs on a 2015 Used 5.0 Ultimate.

There is one for sale from a private party. Second owner...he has owned it less than two years, put on 30k miles. It has 62k miles on it. Car appears in a Fair/Good condition, with tires that are less than. 1000 miles old. This is in Fremont, CA.

Based on the collective wisdom of folks here, would love to get input on a fair value to assign. KBB shows a certain range, but I would rather trust this groups intelligence.

Thank you for your inputs.

Something in the $20k range seems plausable. MAKE SURE to get all service records. Take it to a mechanic to have a Pre-Purchase Inspection done. It'll set you back around $100, but well worth it. Look for the standard areas of wear: leather seats, dashboard, moonroof, trunk lid/seals/closing mechanism/rubber handle. CarFax is cute, but virtually useless if any repair shop hasn't reported damage repaired. Ask your mechanic to test paint thickness, as this is a way if the car has been in an accident.

Agree with all of the above. It's worth knowing that some states require nothing to be reported to CarFax....

I paid $21K for my 5.0 Ultimate w/ 64K and it was in great shape (I'm 2nd owner). Wasn't too worried about the mileage here in Texas, where distances are described in hours not miles. A quick look at the NAV's Previous Destinations indicated quite a few 400+ mile trips through the state. Any mechanic will tell you that highway miles = about 20% of city miles, wearwise.

My mechanic noted that it had been well looked after - before he saw the actual mileage, he thought that it was a 30K car. IMHO, condition means more than miles. I drove a few 5.0's w/ 30K - 40K miles that were ratty AF compared to mine. 2 of them were actually CPO cars!

I agree with skipgen ! Condition is more important than miles. If a car was well kept or not make all the difference. IMO. I have a 15 5.0 . I have had it since April 2019 and just love the car. I put 6000 miles on it and has been flawless. I used it on two separate 1000 mile trips!1000 miles 16 hours , and still wanted to keep driving . They are nice cars to roadtrip with .🙂

I would add to the highway miles vs city miles split. One way to tell is by the number of smashed bugs on the front/radiator, and any stone chips on the front of the car.

Also, I highly second getting a paint analysis. I was in the grip of New Car Fever when I bought my Gennie, and didn't notice a slight color difference on part of the trunk panel. It turns out there was a likely accident not reported to Carfax. Since I bought from what I thought was a reputable dealership (I know, oxymoron), I assumed a clean Carfax meant a clean car. Wrong.

If you can find out who the previous owner was and can do a check on their social media, that can help tell you what kind of a driver they were. I would also pull the pollen filter. If it's ratty AF, it might mean other service items were neglected too.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago we drove from Houston to New Orleans ~ 350 mi. / 6 hr. Could have done another 6 easy. Even got over 25 mpg @ between 75-85 mph. The 5.0 is made for road tripping.

I had a few chips on the leading edge of the hood... Previous owner did a good job with the touch up pen - didn't even notice until a couple of weeks later. Left the paint pen in the glove box too.

No doubt - my old Infiniti G35s wouldn't even get 23 mpg on the same trip. The 5.0 only turns about 1,500 rpm @ 80 mph.

I did memphis to chicago and back last week, but only averaged about 22 mpg. It was very windy/rainy though both ways. I assume that affects mpg.
I would hope to have gotten better, even though I was averaging about 80.
I went well over 100 several times and no one noticed. The car is real quiet.

Yep... I cracked a 100 several times too. Mother In Law in the way back stayed asleep. Wife never looked up from her book.
Weather does make a difference. Rained on the way there, only got 21-22. Was perfect on the way back & registered the 25 & change.
