  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently bought a used 2021 G70 that came with only one key. Trying to avoid the insanely high dealer prices, I ordered a new one from CarandTruckRemotes.com, it came with both remote and insert key and I had it programmed and cut by a local locksmith. The remote works fine but the insert key doesn’t click into the remote properly and the locksmith couldn’t get it to open the door cleanly like the original. He pointed out the new blade is slightly thinner than the original and was likely causing the problems. So, I called CarandTruckRemotes.com and they offered to send me a new blade, but they told me even though their remotes are OEM, their blades are aftermarket and provided free of charge with remote. Well, I received the new insert key and it’s the same problem. CarandTruckRemotes.com has offered to refund me completely but of course I have to return everything and I’m out the locksmith programming fee. So, I’d like to keep the remote and just find a working blade from somewhere else.

Does anyone know where I can buy just the insert key/blade? Should be the same for 2019, 2020 and 2021 model years. Thanks.

I looked closer at it and it ships from China so you’re right, aftermarket.
Maybe you just cut out the middleman. Could be the same outfit that supplies then to Genesis to use for OEM.

Good point 😊

not likely. you can hopefully see (not sure if attaching pic worked), the OEM key on the left has grooved edges, and the aftermarket one on the right has smooth edges, and the key in that eBay listing has smooth edges, so probably not Genesis OEM.

i don’t mind buying aftermarket, it’s just the first 2 i received has blades that are too narrow and don’t work. i was hoping someone might have experience with buying a blade that actually works.
