  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking to better my sounds

The Infinity stereo in my 3.8 coupe could use some Improvements. I was surprised of the could be better performance. Im looking to see what I could add to make sound more decent without taking the stereo unit out. :)

The absolute cheapest thing you can do is plug up the holes in the rear deck of your trunk. When Hyundai designed the audio system in this car they chose to do an infinite baffle type setup in order to save weight/space but didn't quite follow through with it correctly.

What you can do it get some thick, rigid tape, such as aluminum tape, or sound deadening material, go crawl in your trunk, and cover each and every hole you find that could possibly leak air into the cabin. This makes a significant difference in the sound quality.

The next thing you should consider doing is replacing the front speakers. Hyundai didn't do a terribly great job with these, and they end up "fighting" the subwoofer (phase imbalance). I wrote up a pretty good article here about how to replace the front speakers. I highly recommend Alpine Type R 6.5" components, they have good deep bass and crisp, clean highs though the midrange could be a tad louder in my opinion.
