  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looks like first test runs/opinions are in...

The review by Automobile was pretty good. Looks like the price is going to start at $33k, which when you think about it is probably still a good price. It's comparable in size to a BMW 5 series and Lexus LS, and you will not get one of those cars in the mid $30k range brand new. The article implies that Hyundai could have done a little more to put it in the league of elite luxury cars, but that it's a good start for it's first luxury car.

Thanks for posting the recent artilces from MT and Automobile mag. I've shopped BMW, MB, Lexus, and Audi, but there's something about this car I still like...like they are the underdog that will prove it it viable. I think most people can't get past the Hyundai image, but I can for the features of this vehicle. If you ego surpasses value, then buy the BMW, MB, Lexus, or others. Although I can afford to buy anything, I placed great "value" on what my dollar buys. How much does it cost to boost your ego...$10k, $15k or more? If one looks closely at the "value" of what you get for the "price," I think its a pretty easy decision. I can't wait to drive the V8 to see how it performs. If the car performs well, Hyundai has just secured a customer. I've owed BMW's, MB's, Initiniti's and other major brands, but image is not important to me anymore. What I'm interested in is getting value for what you pay, not paying for a nameplate that boosts your ego or raises your appeal to other. Just my 2 cents....

^^^ Your purchase should be thought through to resale value. Unfortunately Hyundai does not really enjoy a low depreciation rate right now. Maybe the Genesis will help change that.

Yes you can get the Hyundai cheaper up front, how much cheaper is still to be determined, but will that value follow through when it comes time to sell?

I agree that resale value is relevant if you purchase the vehicle. However, if resale is a major concern, lease the vehicle then the depreciation of the vehicle shifts to someone else. Yes, I can't wait to see the pricing of the Genesis to see how competitive it will be. I'm still shopping the major German brands as well as Lexus and Infiniti, but I'm holding out until I get a chance to test this vehicle too.

I think there will be some who could care less that it's a Hyundai, while others will buy the Genesis because of what they get for the price. At the same time there will be many, like myself possibly, who will get a Genesis as their first luxury car. Those that need their status symbol or are loyal to their brand will continue to keep buying BMW, MB, and Lexus. I think in the day and age of $4 a gallon gas more and more people will be looking at what you get for the price.

I am curious on how the banks will determine what a lease will cost on the new Genesis? Since a big part of the equation is based on the projected depriciation, will they just use current Hyundais to predict?

I am looking to lease until the vehicle has been in the market long enough to prove itself - but I wonder if leasing a Genesis will be more expensive than vehicles that run about the same list cost. If Hyundais have not held their value well then the lease amount could be high.

The other two vehicles I am considering are the G35 Journey or the Avalon Limited. Both have pretty good 3 year lease rates.

Thank you for posting the links to the articles.. It sounds like it's going to be an excellent performer and capable handler.. I'm very anxious to take a seat in this vehicle...
