  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I had my first oil change, check dash screen, dummy part tsb, tail lamp recall and cowl cover replace.
I noticed immediately that I could hear the engine at low speeds when I left the dealer but wasn't certain if that's just because I normally have the radio on. Well I drove it again and for sure not only is engine noise entering the cabin but so is road noise even at low speeds, whereas before the car was virtually silent.

Anyone have something similar happen? I'm hopeful that something under the car or the dash was simply not sealed up properly, will try to take it back in tomorrow.

Anybody experience something similar? Maybe the cowl cover tsb is involved?

Purely a guess on my part but is it possible your dealer didn't reinstall the bottom panel that covers up the underside of the car. If your dealer tells you that they cannot find anything wrong, demand a ride comparison with a new car on the lot. You can also download a decibel app for your phone so you can compare actual readings from car to car. Good luck and keep us posted.

As mentioned, I also am thinking they forgot to put the underside panel into place. Take a peek underneath, should be completely covered under there.

Would someone mind posting a picture of the panels on the bottom of the car? Do they go the whole length of the body or do they only cover the front and rear portions? Advance thanks for a pic!

I would also check the oil dipstick level.

Great pics! Thanks.

BTW this is a rust magnet. Why? No way for under body car washes to wash out salt that WILL work its way along with long term moisture inside of those panels. Just the way it is. I think, will have to pay big bucks once a month in the winter to pull the panels and flush out the crap and salt that will spray inside under pressure while driving. Makes the Ford aluminum galvanic corrosion look like chump change. IMO... Unless Hyundai can claim they test all this in salt baths. And uses galvanized steel (not)

thanks for the suggestions y'all, So I went back to the dealer yesterday and drove w service manager. Then we drive quality brand new 5.0 to compare. The new car actually was a little noisier !, probably the tires but the engine noise seemed more muted at lower rpms. Hard to explain but higher pitch engine noise seems to enter the my cabin now.

Service people speculated that cat converter is opening up this more engine growl becoming appearant?

End of the day my car was seriously pin drop quiet at low speeds and rpm, now it's not. Compared to the new 5.0 it is only marginally noisier, mostly higher frequency. so I think this might be the end of the investigation for now.

Did anyone else do the cowl cover replace TSB? If not please keep an ear out when you do.

I got a speeding ticket on the way back to the dealer after the first drive, adding insult to injury!

My engine has a better growl with more miles put on the car. Started around 1500 miles. Sounds like a V8 now :D... Keep us posted and when I go in for my 15,000 miles check up next month or so, I will monitor the noise change if they change my cowl cover and report back.

Thanks, always good to hear how others are experiencing the G2. I'll post back if anything further develops, for now I'm go in to just enjoy the ride unless it worsens.
