  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Re: my 2009 Genesis sedan

I let my genesis sit and now the battery is dead. But I cannot open the trunk to charge it since none of my 2 keys work to unlock it (I think the primary key does that and I've lost it).

I don't remember if I received 3 keys or 2. The 2 keys I have cannot open physically open the trunk. I've tried fooling around with the pushbutton in the glove compartment to no avail... does this need the battery to work?

Can anyone help me with my options? Thanks.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Look on the driver door as there is a button to unlatch the trunk there. In the area where you push to unlatch the plate to get to the gas cap. The charge poles are in the front under the hood.

Just to be clear, did you take the actual metal key out of the smart key fob and attempt to open the trunk??

As others mentioned, use the jumping posts under the hood. I have my car stored for winter and I have a trickle charger on the jumper posts all winter.

If your doors aen't locked you can open your hood. There is a location that can be used to jump your car. There is a plastic cover on it. It will be on the passanger side of the engine compartment. You can hook the battery charge up there.

check pages 4-9 and 6-4 of your manual. May also be good for you to review the rest of the manual.

When charging from the terminal posts my charger kept indicating 0% for the battery.
But after only an hour the battery was charged enough to start the car, so I guess the charger's can't read the % of the battery, since it's not hooked up directly or something...
Just FYI
