If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

While using navigation and the radio at the same time, the volume of the navigation instruction was lower than that of the radio. I note that when navigation instructions are being given, that the volume from other sources can be lowered (pg 50, Navigation Volume). So, I checked that setting (pg 49, #4 on nav map screen). And, to my surprise, the screen showed that the nav volume was 15 (nice and loud) and that Navigation Priority Guidance (loweres all othe audio volumes) was checked. Under these conditions, shouldn't the nav instructions been loud enough and the radio's volume much lower??? Perhaps I'm missing something? BTW, would I be correct in assuming that when getting a phone call, that the radio volume would be automatically reduced or muted? Thanks.

The radio and the Nav volumes are independent. Turn up the nav volume.

And yes, if you have nav volume priority on it'll lower everything else...except a phone call. Phone calls have priority.

Apparently, my Nav Priority isn't doing its job when nav instructions are being given, the radio isn't lowering it volume. I'll just have to turn up the nav volume above 15 and bring up the issue when I go for servicing.

I have a feeling, I didn't check, but if you have the Nav at 15 and the radio at 30 the Nav will sound quieter.

I'm sure the radio is attenuated by a % and not "just be quieter than the Nav"; ergo, if you have a large enough difference between them you may experience what you are seeing....errr hearing.

Also, I know from other threads you do not have the latest UI firmware. Don't do anything until you get that updated to 13.5.

All good advice. But, at this point (before the firmware update), there really is no apparent effect on radio lowering. But, I will test by having both radio and nav set to the same volume; then if the radio volume is lowered, it should be discernible, eh?

Very much so.

Do you have the parking sensor Priority set? Does the radio volume lower when you put it in reverse?

...Does the radio volume lower when you put it in reverse?

Just discovered that radio volume does lower when in reverse. How does this relate to radio volume not apparently lowering during nav instructions?

How does one check that he has the latest firmware and then to upgrade to it?

There are multiple threads about it. Start looking at this one.

I don't have the latest firmware, but hopefully I'll be having it installed this coming week.

EDIT: Also definitely confirmed that the radio volume does not lower when under guidance.

They lower to the same level.

Also, the nav sounds like its just over 1 - 2 speakers (front left and center maybe) and not the whole system.

I checked this weekend, if you have the radio up loud and the nav low it's hard to tell, sounds more like the radio lost a speaker.

Also, you are using the main nav? And when on the Map screen you touch the speaker icon to adjust the volume and then put a check in the priority box?

This is the main nav (only the nav map showing on the screen.) Yes, nav volume level (20) and Priority box set properly, with radio level at around 9-10. Can then hear the nav instructions without problems. But, then again, if the radio volume isn't being lowered, then either Genesis is not stating things correctly, or I need a fix?

Well, sounds like you have everything right. Hopefully the software update gets it for you.

I remember having it work ok with the v12.5 that came on my car.

My Genesis dealership does not have the firmware update...ugh! Guess I just have to wait it out.

EDIT:
Well, the FCA could be working. A car turned off into its driveway and although I don't think I was terribly close to it, 3 bells went off. So, I think it works relative to when you are going beyond a certain speed and certain distance from the car in front of you.

I have already tried, but the word is that it can take up to 6-7 weeks before they get to register your car for the update.
That's true but be patient, after that time you will be able to order for free.
