  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am a few months into my ownership with a 2011 Equus and I must say the bloom is coming off the rose. :(

I am quite disappointed in the quality of the leather and plastics. Very strange materials. I cleaned and conditioned the leather with a quality Meguiars product and the results were very bizarre. Lots of streaking and blotchiness. Also noticed the rag was black from removing some of the dye !

If you get any of the cleaner on the plastics forget about it it will be a streaky mess with no way to remedy.

Not sure if the hides are from a cow or korean musk deer, either way I am glad I leased because I am thinking this car will look a bit trashy after three years. I had a Mercedes for 10 years once and the interior on that looked about the same as the Equus after 3 months.

I have never had much success with Meguiars products. I know that some folks swear by them, but I have not had much luck with them. Another person on the forum suggested:

Lexol 1115 Leather pH Cleaner Spray 16.9 oz. (500mL)
$11.02

Lexol 1020 Applicator Sponges, 2-pack
$4.44

for leather and it works great my on my Genesis seats. There are also
comments about products to clean the plastic. I forget which one, but
I plan to go back and find what the other owners use that works before
I buy any. I know that I have been less than satisfied with ArmourAll
and Meguiars for cleaning plastics on the dash in recent years.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the input. I think I am going back to Lexol

Lexol for leather but keep it off the plastics or it spots and you have to clean the plastic with something like "Tuff Stuff"which by the way is very good and I have used it for over 30 years.

Not sure if there's much difference between the 11 and 12, but I am very impressed with the quality in my 2012.

IMO materials overall are as good as the Acura we had, better than my BMW and as good as my Mercedes.

I agree the problem is with the Meguires products. Some of them are very poor. My 2012 leather is equal to my 2011 E550 and I do not see many differences in the other materials quality.
