  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased a 2009 Genesis sedan back in January of 2011,since my purchase Ive had to replace a brake booster, master cylinder and Brake switch, are these mechanical issues normal for Hyundai products or did I get a lemon.thank goodness for warranties.

This is the first I've seen a post about it so it appears this is not common at all.

NOLa

Seems like the brakes may have been slammed on really hard several times before you purchased the car. I have seen brake boosters fail in other car brands after hard emergency stops.

I don't understand nonsensical posts like this.

Cars break for all kinds of reasons. Is this your first car?

You don't know the history of your car.. when you buy used you take your chances how the last owner maintained the vehicle... they could have been driving 2 qts low on oil for the last year - if the engine develops a knock, is it a manufacturing defect?

In short, I have owned two prior Hyundai products and found them to be as reliable (generally speaking even more) as other car manufacturers. I don't care what the product is... having a warranty is a good thing, takes away worry.

I understand buying used cars your taking a chance , just inquiring if all the other used Hyundais have similar issues, thats what forums are for . And theres nothing nosentical about it. if your going to be opiniated dont reply.

I think you meant Hyundai had to replace those parts, right? Not you?
Btw, did you get the car from a Hyundai dealer or 3rd party? If a dealer, did he offer to CPO it? Were you offered an extended warranty or inquire about one?
But to answer YOUR question, mechanical "issues" happen to all manufacturers. Since the parts you replaced are "related", I'd guess you don't have a lemon, but had "brake problems".

I second this - when you buy used you have no idea of what issues the previous owner may have had, or how (and if) s/he maintained the vehicle. The problems you cite could be related to something that happened while the previous owner had the car. Don't be too quick to jump to the conclusion that you are seeing some sort of defect.

Yes Hyundai did replace these parts under warranty, my vehicle was certified and I did purchase an extended warranty. I was just curious if I made the rite choice of choosing a Genesis .dont get me wrong I love everything about it I was just a little scepticle.thanks for all the feedback.
