Mechanical sounds when car is off

What is going on with the bzzzt or whirring sound that I regularly hear sitting in the garage but the car is off. The ke fob is in the house. The car has been off for hours. I'll hear what sounds like an electric motor sound. Sort of like the sound the mirrors make when they retract. But that's not it. Any ideas what's going on?

Have you seen any of the Transformers movies?

Seriously, I've heard sounds like this for a short while after turning off the engine, but don't know what might happen after hours have gone by.

Never heard after hours. The fan will run if the engine is very hot but that is just after turning it off.

Not a problem. It's the evap system.
