  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have had my car since Christmas, and have almost 3,000 miles on it. Two days ago, out of the blue, my mirrors started automatically repositioning themselves when I go into reverse. They drop all the way down, and, when I put the car in drive, they realign to the "normal" position.

I don't like them dropping to look at the ground and my front tires, and I don't know if I hit a button to program this or what, but has anyone had this issue and can you tell me how to stop it from happening?

Thanks!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Its ok - they are supposed to do that when you go into reverse. Its a safety feature so you can see along side the car...to make sure there are no kids, etc. A little distracting until you get used to it.

The car is designed that way. If you place the side mirror control in the middle position neither outside mirror will tilt down. If it is left at the "left" position the passenger side mirror will tilt down when you shift the trans into reverse. At the "right" position both mirrors will tilt down when your reverse.

guys (or ladies...lol):

thanks. I just couldn't understand how it never happened before, then started happening yesterday. I'll check out the mirror adjustment toggle position tomorrow. I must have moved it and not noticed

Thanks!

btw. that's why this site is so great. I ask a question, and get answers right away! Happy w/ the Genesis, and glad I found this site

I may be unusual, but I read the manual...it is amazing what I pickup each time I peruse the manual.Lots of little tidbits a lot of people miss.

My Brother-in-law has a saying:

"When all else fails, read the manual".

His other saying when we are lost, and trying to find our way, is:

"Trust me".

Now that I think of it. he has a third saying when looking for a parking space:

"Go where you want to park, and a spot will open up for you"

:confused:This is a great example of why I keep the manual with me when I bring a new car home and do not get into the car again until I have read it cover to cover. I do not want to hit some one while fiddling with a control, and like very much to set up my cockpit for maximum comfort and access to needed controls. I enjoy this forum very much but have no use for any discussion like this BS, accept for comic relief. You are intelligent people to have had enough to spend $36000-$42000 and yet have ask some one to read the book for you, very selfish! Read the manual and enjoy the ride, then bitch about the things that you don't like or find out if your car is functioning like it was designed to.:D
