  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know why the CD player would not recognize the MP3 Artist name and song titles on burned disc. Seems to be fine on store bought original CD's?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Are you burning an Audio CD (ie. using software to convert the .mp3 files to .cda, burn them to a disc, and finalize the disc according to red book standard), or an MP3 CD (ie. dropping the mp3 files directly onto a disc "as is", burned as data)???

If it's an Audio CD:
- Although nobody here is certain of the exact technology used in the Genesis, it seems as though only certain CDs encoded natively with a specific form of CD-TEXT data (describing album name/artist name/track titles, etc) are compatible in this way.

- Displayed disc info compatibility appears almost random even with store bought CDs.

- If you're interested in doing some experimentation, there are numerous software programs out there that are CD-TEXT compatible. If you want to burn CDs with CD-TEXT info, I'd suggest Toast for Mac; CDRWIN or Easy CD-DA Extractor for Windows.

If it's an MP3 CD:
- The Genesis does not support ID3 tags, which are pretty much essential to storing/transmitting/displaying album info for .mp3 files.

- Little can be done to get around this limitation, though strategic naming of containing folders and filenames can create an acceptable level of info displayed on playback (ie. "Artist Name" as containing folder, "Track Name"s as filenames; I find this formula works very well for my .mp3-loaded USB drives).

Strange, but I burn my mp3 disks as "data", and the titles/artists are displaying. I have a 2010 4.6 with tech.
