  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just tried to copy my itunes library on to a USB drive but it won't work in my Genesis. It is a FAT32 formatted USB, but I am wondering if it is because all of the files are "MPEG-4"s?

If so, what type of file do I need to convert them to with the least loss of sound quality?

I had the same problem as you when I first bought my Genesis. I had itunes also.....I know "apple" is trying to be different in everything they do, but to make a format (M4A) that the rest of the world doesn't recognize is not convienient to myself.

I copied the music that I had downloaded onto CD's to burn to WMA (MP3) and recopied all of my purchased CD's onto WMA.

Takes time, but worth all the effort:cool: Plus I love the newer version of WMA, IMO, much better then itunes.

Converting from one compressed format, to another, will always cause a little loss of quality, but on higher settings, and with a better converter, most people won't notice.

Apple uses a proprietary DRM MP4 container, to lock the music to their players and for licensing purposes. There are converters out there.

I use Switch Sound File Converter

Thanks all! Downloaded the Switch Sound File Converter and converted all the files to Mp3 using a high variable bit rate. Everything works great and fantastic sound from the little USB.
