  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have completed my trip to Canada and can report the milage is much improved in my 2012 3.8. For the 540 miles total trip it did 30.3 mpg this included the usual messing about at the border. Has anybody found out how to turn off the active part of the cruise control yet as at times it can be a pain on declines as it brakes to maintain the set speed. Also, how can you tell if the AC is off as mine seems to work even if the blue light in the AC button is not on.

I had a 2011 and have a 2012. I can find no way to turn off the adaptive cruise control so as to make it "conventional". I don't care for the constant braking on cruise control in traffic, so I just do not use cruise control in traffic. My own driving in traffic is smoother, which also results in better gas mileage.

Sigh!

"As for the standard V6 engine, it also gains direct-injection and an 8-speed transmission, resulting in more power and improved fuel economy. With an increase of 43-hp and 27 lb-ft of torque, output is now rated at 333-hp and 291 lb-ft. Hyundai hasn’t announced city fuel economy ratings, but highway mileage is up from 27-mpg to 29-mpg." And you even beat that! WOW!

I NEVER achieve the promised wonderous performances. I don't drive a 2012, but seldom (if ever) realize the promised performance for my 2010.

Just my bad luck, I suppose!

Maybe you are still enabling the fan? AC either heats or cools the radiator but fan actually pumps air through it and circulate the air inside the cabin. If you felt heat/cool air even after turning AC off, go to the dealer to check it.

You are correct in assuming the AC stays on with no lite on.Got to page 4/98 in the manual and will show you how to turn AC off.Makes quite a differance to mileage.

I have a 2012 V6. I've noticed that there is the occasional odd time where in manual operation the air conditioning is operating even if the A/C light is not on, and I know it the A/C was not cycling when I last stopped the car. I chalk it up to a bug.

I get around it by just punching the A/C button twice and that shuts it off.

Yes, if you're in full auto mode and press the fan or mode button the A/C compressor will likely continue to cycle. What I've described above is separate from that.

how do you explain air still moving hot or cold when the a/c is off? I've had it in every single car I've ever owned including a pontiac, a nissan, 2 acuras and now 2012 Genny.

as far as MPG, the Energy Saver A/S tires do wonders, my personal best is 31mpg, now with Continental DW summer tires...I'm down to maybe 26 on highway, and more like 13 around New York City (this is normal, at least for me, no matter which car I drive, awd or not, under or over 300hp).

Re: MPG update V-8 Tau

I have been getting arount 26 to 30 on mine driving from city to city. I can post a pic if anyone wants from my last trip 106 miles andf 29.9 mpg. I have been playing with the difference with Premium verse Regular. I used Shell premium in Alphareta GA to Charlotte, NC and got 26.7. Then filled with Exxon Regular and got 29.9 from Winston-Salem, NC to Raleigh, NC I found that interesting.
