My 2013 2.0T R-Spec Build Thread

We finally picked up our 2013 Genesis coupe 2.0T R-Spec today and are starting on the 45 day build road to the 2012 SEMA Show. We will be providing progress build updates leading up to the unveiling at the SEMA Show inside the Hyundai booth.

This is the second Hyundai project we will be undertaking but this is our first experience with the Genesis. Last year we build a themed Veloster with the Universal Technical Institute which you can see our build thread over at veloster.org: Hyundai Veloster Picked Up for SEMA 2011

We are still ironing out some details on the car right now but we will be using a brand new Dupont paint that they just brought out of development for the coupe. I know we will be doing some parts with Ark Performance, BC Racing, and Chasebays for now.

Above are some photos we took picking it up today and we dropped it off at Infinite Auto Design in Huntington Beach who also did the work on our Veloster last year. After just a few days with the car we have the interior torn apart and are hard at work on our kit. The guys from Rotiform came by and made some measurements for wheels and I will post our sizing when they send that information our way.

Sorry guys but we have some iPhone photos only for an update. Here is the wide body kit being built and primed. It is a 50mm rear extension of the kit and the whole thing is a hand built one off kit.

Yes, the black piece is going to be sprayed jet black and retained on the build as far as the plan goes right now.

What are you doing for wheels?

Here is a test fit of our Rotiform wheel before powder coating. They will be double dark tint and all cleaned up of course. Will post some updates when we get them back.

As for the wheels I was not present when they did the test fit but they should work out. The guys from Rotiform personally did the test fitment and I don't think they want the wheels they make not fitting correctly.


Here is some body kit stuff before the car is heading off to paint.

Here is our ARK exhaust system that we just picked up this week. We also have a truck load of stuff from Chasebays come in this week as well. We have our Whiteline Swaybars, BC Racing coilovers, and Injen intake ready to go on when we get her out of paint as well.
