Yes, for the hold function. However, it switches to the parking brake in certain circumstances, such as putting the car in park. This is clearly spelled out in the owner's manual. Notice that you can't get the auto hold feature with a manual parking brake. The electric parking brake is required to get that option.Pretty sure auto-hold uses the anti-lock system, not the parking brakes.
