  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had the day off today, so I ended up giving my 2014 Casablanca White Equus a good wash followed by clay bar and a wax. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect Southern Californian day. It was 70* slightly overcast and the sun popped up every now and then. Absolutely beautiful!

It took roughly 45 minutes to give her a good wash and a quick dry. I planned on only a wash followed by a quick wax, but as I was drying it, I felt more friction on the quick dry towel than I should have, so I decided to Clay-Bar her. Luckily I had purchased a kit (Mothers' Clay Bar System) for my wife's Mercedes GL450 earlier in the year. ( I also used my water blower to get out all the water out of my rims and all the nooks and crannies.)

I was quite amazed on all the impurities which had been taken off. There was a ton of crap on the paint, it wasn't really visible but you could sure feel feel it with the tips of your fingers. Two hours later the paint is as smooth as could be and I am relieved I got the job done. Next step is the wax.

I chose Mothers Synthethic wax due to the reviews I read. It was very easy to apply and it only took half the amount of effort to remove than traditional Carnabua wax does. Took me 45 minutes.

All in all, took me roughly 4 hours, had some hands on time with my new baby. I plan on cleaning the interior tomorrow, vacuuming and giving it a quick wipe down and putting in some air fresheners. Trying to get rid of that new car smell.

Excellent choice. It is always better to use a synthetic polymer car wax for the first wax job, even "if" one chooses to use Carnauba or a Carnauba blend later as a top coat. Synthetic polymer waxes bond with the painted surface, whereas a Carnauba wax comes off with detergents and harsh weather elements. Not that I am recommending Carnauba on top of synthetic polymer wax for everyone (Carnauba is too much work for me), but if one were to use it, better to do synthetic polymer wax for the first wax job.

she looks sweet!
