My gen coupe just beat a 2013 bmw m3!!

I drive a 2011 genesis coupe 3.8 rspec. Not exactly father material but i have a car seat in the back. Ha ha anyways the only actual mods I've done was a injen cai,and i got a stage 1.5 reflash from sfr. Which i am very happy about. But that's it. So I'm driving down the road and i notice a bmw tailing me I'm like ok bring it on. So i move to the next lane and he waives forward,ok..i turn off my traction control and when the light turned green i stomped on it, carefully watching the rpms and not shifting until it read 7000,(7200) the reflash,hit second, then third, then 4th as i watched him fade away. He never once had a lead on me. I slowed down and we caught another light, he goes, hey man nice ride you got there, i said thanks you too,but mine didn't cost 70,000$..ok ok you have paddle shifters? No full manual, ok, what engine in that turbo 6? He said nope v8.dammit that's awesome! He told me drivers error, you want to go again? I whooped his butt! NOW I know my 2011 for some odd reason the rspec is rated at 13.3 in the quarter mile. What's wierd to me is even the 2013 and higher models aren't even that fast and i always wondered why the 2011 3.8 rspec has the fastest 1/4 mile times?wierd..but when i did research,that m3 was rated at 414hp!that's insane for me to whoop him like i did. He must have been a bad driver

Welcome aboard! Thank you for signing up. Yeah, I'm not sure what happened there but those V8 M3s typically run 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.8 seconds. They're damn quick cars. Not sure what happened to the guy you raced but a win is a win.

Yes i looked that up when i got home, like i said i got a stage 1.5 tune from sfr so i wasn't all stock

Ok, it's called seoulfulracing or sfr usa.they are in PA. They remap and write over the ecu data.it's amazing! Usually they require catback exhaust and a cold air intake. That's too run optimal.they have stage 1 and stage 1.5. I got the 1.5 i mean why would i pay for the 1,then have to send back my ecu?? It feels like a mini supercharger it's that good. Anyways i have a question for you, what i don't understand is on all websites they post 1/4 mile times for the genesis coupe.my question is why does my car (2011 3.8 rspec)still have the fastest 1/4 mile time? Even there more powerful 350hp engines that have been out still don't have 13.3 for the quarter mile

Thank you for the information. I'm not quite familiar with 1/4 mile times on the Coupes but if they were faster before - it would probably have something to do with increasing gas mileage and/or extra weight in the newer cars...

Hey i read that all car companies are doing away with v8s and using turbos instead, to really increase gas milage. Ford is already doing that. I really hope hyundai will start putting twin scroll back into the mix.

Hyundai has a 3.3 liter twin turbo V6 that'll be coming into place during the next year or so. I don't think ALL companies will abandon the V8 but I imagine most of the mainstream brands will...
