  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I called Asheville (NC) Hyundai/Genesis to make an appointment to get thje oil changed on my '18 3.3 TT G90 the other day, and I was told "BTW, we are no longer a Genesis dealer, so we will no longer be doing any warranty work on Genesis cars. You'll have to take your car to the nearest Genesis dealer, which is in Charlotte, for warranty work."

This was unpleasant news because Asheville Hyundai has the best service department and service manager (shout out to Forrest Smith) I have ever dealt with, and they're 13 miles away. That's one of the reasons I bought this car back in May 2021. Although they are a victim of their own success (like many Hyundai/Genesis dealers) in terms of wait times due to the sheer numbers of vehicles they have to deal with, Forrest has always been honest, easy to work with, and goes out of his way to make me a happy customer. I have read the horror stories about other dealers' service departments, so I don't look forward to establishing a relationship with another dealer.

I don't know why the receptionist told me that I would have to take my car to Charlotte. Charlotte is 110 miles away from my crib. There's actually a Genesis dealer in Hendersonville, about 25 miles away (I have dealt with their service department before, and it's nothing to write home about), and there are several other Genesis dealers closer than Charlotte.

I asked the receptionist why they are no longer a Genesis dealer, and was told that she wasn't at liberty to discuss it. That doesn't sound good. Although they have a great service department, I can't vouch for their sales department, but they must have pissed off Genesis corporate somehow.

She also said that several dealers in Tennessee have lost their Genesis franchises as well, but I can't find any references to that on the web.

So my question is, have any of you had a similar experience with a dealer, and if so, why did the dealer lose their Genesis franchise?

They didn’t want to service Genesis because it doesn’t make them any money.

My dealership and one nearby also dropped Genesis. Don’t think it was their choice. Heard that Genesis has finally established as a luxury brand, and wants stand-alone dealerships from now on.

Colonial Hyundai of Downingtown PA is no longer a Genesis dealer

The same thing happened in Tampa Florida. Now, there are NO Genesis dealers in Tampa! They lost their franchises for some unknown reason and owners now have to drive a long distance to get service.

South of you here. I put my zip code (34219) in the Genesis dealer finder and it says it can't find any. My dealer website is showing 2024 models for sale. They are rebuilding the building but have not been by in a few weeks to see if it is done and what it is now

Went form another link. Looks like Clearwater and St. Pete also have dealers.

Careful with Gettel... they wont let you put a deposit on a car they've had on the lot for over a month, and they also wont tell you that the same care you are on your way from out of state to test and do a deal on has been sold until you already arrive at the dealership. That's all I'm gonna say about that. 😕

I image you'd be rather PO'd about that, I know I would be.

I bought my G80 in CT and moved to Florida some time later. I've had good experience with them for service and since bought another car from them. In my 5 years, they have been OK.

My recent experience is that back in June we put down a "deposit" on a new Genesis at a dealership in NW Ohio. At the time, the car was expected to be delivered in July. Well, July came and went, and I started to track "our" car via their website that indicated it was "in transit". The expected delivery date continued to slip out and finally in mid November the date stabilized. Called my salesman on the Monday before expected delivery and he said the car was now on US soil and would let me know when it showed up on the truck. In the meantime, I downloaded the window sticker and noticed that the "deliver to" dealership changed to one in Wisconsin. On the expected delivery date, I called the dealership and was told that the day prior they essentially had lost their Genesis franchise and could no longer deliver my car. I requested my deposit back and thankfully found 2 cars that matched the color / trim combination we wanted at two separate dealers in central Indiana (further away, but not nearly as inaccessible as Wisconsin). The next day we traveled down there and made a good deal on the car we wanted. We're happy now and had a great dealership experience with the purchase, but not too impressed overall.
