  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Was out earlier today...everything was fine.

Just went out to my car...and noticed the mirrors didn't open as I approached. Care wasn't even locked. So I locked...unlocked...and they remain in the closed position.

Now...I can force both of them out (almost like the normal way on a manual mirror car)...but they won't click into place. So as I drive...they slowly move to the folded position because of the wind pushing them in.

WTF is going on?!?! Doubt it is my garage being cold...we have had plenty of cold nights.

Has this happened to anyone? I essentially cannot drive my car b/c the f'ing mirrors won't stay in the unfolded position !!!

Well...I was outside messing around...and they magically started working again. Phew...that freaked me out.

Hopefully not a sign of something bad happening.

I hope it’s not the sign of anything, I’ve had a couple one off quirks happen to me that haven’t repeated but not this one. If you didn’t even hear the motor trying to work in the mirrors I guess it could be electrical? Good luck man

Almost sounds like the electronic sensors got their position mixed up?

I'm glad they're working now! Hot damn. Weird. Just to be sure, does the fold/unfold button inside work?

Luckily, so far mine hasn't done anything like that. *knocks on wood*

Did you or someone else push the mirror folding button by mistake? If you did then they wouldn't unfold until you push the button again regardless if the car was locked or unlocked or even on. You can fold them in the highway FYI.

I turned the approach feature off because it doesn't make sense with the way I use the car. I'd turn off the automatic feature off too to lengthen its life span because the car lives in a garage but it'll stay on until the warranty is over.

I've turned mine off as well, I only use it when I'm in questionable public parking areas. Figured it might help prolong the life of the system. (Unfortunately) most of my parking is done in my garage or at work, I consider both "trusted" places.

I realize I'm not driving a G70 but it's the same issue across models.

My G90 mirrors both fold appropriately and, if you then unlock the car immediately, unfold as well. But after a few minutes, when you unlock it, only the passenger mirror unfolds. To get the driver's side mirror to unfold, you have to move the switch to the left position. Obviously, the motors are fine. Seems to be a glitch in the switch. Anyone seen this?

For a couple months now I've had issues with my passenger side mirror not always unfolding upon unlock. Most of the time I can hit the fold button then hit it again and the mirror comes alive.

Interestingly I recently found in the glove box a receipt for service during previous ownership. The driver side mirror was replaced for this exact issue.

How do you turn it off?
