  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

i bought a new smartphone, t-moble my touch hua u8680 & couldn't get it to pair up with the car. went to the dealership & they said phone wasn't on "the list" tested & passed by hyundai. need hands free capability & cannot believe this 45K car doesn't work with ALL phones. hyundai needs to constantly update their list. anyone run into this problem? there's got to be a solution. HELP!

You bought an off brand phone...not Hyundai's fault. Take your phone back and get one that's on the list.

it should work as a bluetooth headset with any bluetooth capable phone...

FYI
Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (Chinese: 华为 (Huáwéi); English pronunciation: "WAH-way")[3] is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong.[4] It is the largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world, having overtaken Ericsson in 2012.[5]

Huawei was founded in 1988 by ex-military officer Ren Zhengfei and formed as a private company owned by its employees. Its core missions are building telecommunications networks; providing operational and consulting services and equipment to enterprises inside and outside of China; and manufacturing communications devices for the consumer market.[6] Huawei has over 140,000 employees, around 46% of whom are engaged in research and development (R&D).[7][8] It has 20 R&D institutes in countries including China, the United States,[9] Germany, Sweden, Ireland, India, Russia, and Turkey,[10][11] and in 2011 invested around US$3.74 billion in R&D.[12][13]

In 2010, Huawei recorded profit of 23.8 billion CNY (3.7 billion USD).[14] Its products and services have been deployed in more than 140 countries and it currently serves 45 of the world's 50 largest telecoms operators.[15]

I don't understand complaints like this.

Car companies make cars, they are not in the (insert the brand/type of your hardware complaint) business. If you must have an accessory to go with your car, then at the risk of sounding like an ass, it's on you to see if it works.

Even if you could afford the extra dollars each car would cost for them to devote the time and effort to test every phone/widget out there, would you pay the extra?

Even if you had no issues with that (and everyone buying their cars), is it reasonable to expect it to work with every phone or other device made after they built the car?

Technology changes quickly, and you may be able to find an update to the phone easier than the car. In any event swapping one or the other is an easy decision..............

This is exactly why there are compliance standards which all manufacturers should be following which allow all devices to work seamlessly together. In early days of WiFi, certain cards/routers/etc were completely incompatible. Now as long as it is WiFi certified it works.

I would recommend taking the phone back and explaining the Bluetooth isn't working. Its entirely possible you just got a dud.

The operative word is "should". Standards change, and we all know why compatibility lists exist. If you buy any phone not on "the list" and it doesn't work, then I think your option to blame the car maker is out the window. I do agree that it could just be a bad phone, but I also think any carrier that won't hand you an example of a phone to test with your car or hassles you on the return/exchange if they can't or won't do that, is the company to complain about.

Can anyone explain why the Samsung Galaxy S4 doesn't work in the Genesis? It's the number 1 selling phone in the world and its Korean. Surely a few guys at the Samsung factory drive home in a G every day. How come they designed a product that won't work with the G?

covered more in depth in the s4 thread, but to summarize:

Samsung messed up the bluetooth stack (much like they did when the s3 was released). New update which started rolling out apparently fixes the stack.
