My USB port died

I've had various issues with the USB port, and I've read on the forums of others having issues as well - mainly, intermittently not reading the flash drive or taking a long time to load. But I have not seen any posts about the drive being completely unusable.

I can't get the USB port to read anything - and I've tried about 5 different memory sticks. It seems to still charge some things, but not others. For example, it charges my Android phone, but not my Blackberry.

I'm out of the electronics warranty, so I am out of luck unless someone has an idea on how to fix it.

The new Blackberry requires a specific power to charge. I have the same issue with my android and blackberry phone. Regarding USB port not reading USB sticks, take it to dealer and have them look at it.

It's probably charging your BlackBerry at the usb standard. This would not register on the device itself, but it is most likely charging slowly anyways.

I bought an Amazon low profile 12v charger for about $12 which has a 1A and a 2A on it. If you want a modern device to charge quickly it's worth a look.

For usb media make sure it's really pressed all the way in. Also make sure the usb device Is fat32.

Not too concerned about the blackberry charging, just mentioned it more to note that the port seems to have some power. The thing I'm more concerned about is the inability to play music through it. Since it's electronic related, I'm assume it would not be covered by the B2B warranty as the electronics warranty is only 36k miles. I'll mention it next time I bring it in to see what they say.

A good car audio sound shop should be able to repair/replace the usb socket.
