If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi
2009 Genesis Tech CPO.3.8

New owner here . I bought my car CPO near Boston. I noticed issues with navigation and bluetooth link which i dismissed as a phone problem.
It got worse whenever i would connect the phone the DIS stick joystick will stop working. if i disconnected it will start working again. the steering control would not work. no voice commands etx.
took it to the dealer and it was "fixed". while driving it out of the dealership same issue.
Now i am told i need a new DIS navigation console 1000+ and yes you guessed it not under warranty. called huyundi but no luck.

any suggestion will be welcome.

option
1> suck it up and pay
2> try reinstalling software. it appears to be a software issue.
3 > buy navigation used from ebay (150) and install it .
4> do nothing and pray jesus will fix it.

Was it an as is buy or did you get a 30 day or some other warranty? The issue you have should have shown up right away.

Next time it happens, try rebooting the AMP. If that doesn't fix it, reboot the Head Unit. See procedures below:

2011 - 2012 and 2009 - 2010 with newer DIS software

2009 - 2010 with old DIS software

If this recovers your system then it is a software issue that is fixed with the latest version. Ask your dealer to apply TSB 12-BE-012-1 on your system. It takes 1 1/2 hours to complete.

i had a 60 day warranty. I have owned it for 3 months. I noticed the bluetooth not working right away and thought it was my phone. the joystick not working is new.

i will try the update/reboot. the nav does work perfectly if i dont connect the phone. thats tells me that its a software issue. hardware would give trouble if it was the reason.

If it only needs the software update then the dealer should not charge you anything for the TSB update.

Hi

- Press the INFO/PHONE button twice to enter the Phone Menu.
- Select Phone Book --> New Entry
- Select the symbol "1@" in the speller and then, "OK"
- Enter "##0324#0704##" and then "OK"

Now you should be in the Full Eng Mode menu.

Tried it but cannot select "OK" it does not give the option. any suggestion.

i cannot find the submenu in my list.

I don't have a 2009 to test so, I guess "OK" would be pushing the DIS wheel down once you select the option.

Update

I took the car to a different dealer and they reset the navigation /head unit. i was there for 4 hours and they contacted the hyundai hotline to figure it out. after all that they have suggested changing the head unit.

Initially the issue was the joystick did not work when the phone was connected now it will only flip between two options. i can see the screens for nav/radio/phone but cannot scroll more then one step in any menu.

I did ask if this was a joystick DIS issue or the headunit issue . they were not sure.

I looked at alternative to OEM and could not find any suitable options.

1 > Install factory OEM part > 1000 $
2> Install used head unit > Ebay 200-400 with install fee( 300) . There is some issue with VIN number and lock fee . will look into that
3> Install after market 1300s .
4> Just leave it the way it is and get reminded about the issue every day.

Update

I decided to replace the navigation system and use the OEM part. Here is the fun thing. the Navigation is complicated. it is not just one part. i thought the scren thingy had the brains but i am not sure anymore look at the pic its complicated.

Once again the issue it that the navigation /radio/phone cursor does not move beyond one space. it will not go up or down a menu. its stuck.....

i can still make calls and use navigation voice commands. but not the joystick.

the search goes on....

I'm glad you got that worked out. One of my biggest fears on the car is if the head unit goes, that stuff isn't cheap.

I just bought a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8 premium package and was wondering if I should pay to get the Hyundai Protection Plan Vechicle Service Contract. Please advise. For $1550 it extends my Nav,Audio and High Tech warranty to 10 years .

From what I have been reading on here I suggest you do it...

You must read the fine print and see that it mentions navigation and head unit. Its not use if its not included.

Worth it if it gives you bumper to bumper for 10. otherwise shop around.

Depends on how many miles you drive a year. Under 12k miles per year then absolutely. Over 20k a year its not worth it because the mileage will end your warranty quickly. Its 10 years and some mileage figure.
