Navi/Display Backlight

Anyone notice their auto day/night sensor randomly changes mode during the bright light of day, suddenly causing the dashboard displays and Navi screen to think it's nighttime? I've had this happen every morning since I owned the car on my way to work. It generally flashes back to daytime mode after a few 10-20 seconds, but my is it annoying.

This is normal. The instrument/screen lighting compensates for ambient light. May happen likewise at dusk.

If you have the Tech Pkg, you can set it to stay in daytime mode.

Can occur when going through an underpass, driving down a heavily shaded street, or similar instances.

Very normal.

This bugs the hell out of me too. It seems the A pillar shadow is on the sensors when the sun is out. My "other" car wouldn't do this. I wouldn't say it is normal, but just an overly sensitive sensor.

I have to agree. I was goign to post the same issue myself. The light sensor is way too sensitive. When I drive mid to late afternoon, the nav goes to night time mode and the headlights come on all the time... not just when going underneath overpasses. The slightest shadow will kick it off. Anyone know if the light sensitivity is adjustable?

A possible solution would be a couple pieces of clear scotch tape over each sensor. I haven't tried this, but it would ultimately make the sensor think it was darker outside.

I keep forgetting to do this.... I want to give it a try.
