  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I always get the navigation agreement popup when I start my car. It doesn't pop up all the time, but it does it quite frequently. I haven't really used the navigation system but once on the first day. Anybody know why it seems to randomly pop up and how to avoid that?

It pops up randomly yeah. Probably coincides with a hard boot which seems random too. It will dismiss itself if you keep driving. There is also an option in the menus for it but it's named badly or doesnt have any effect. I leave it checked i think.

It will always come on but there is a setting to have it turn off after 10 seconds.

I have seen the Navigation pop up agreement whenever I start my Genesis, too. I think it is just a reminder to be safety conscious whenever you are going drive and may be using the Navigation system. Sort of like the do's and don'ts when driving. Hyundai's way of encouraging you to driving responsibly. {Don't drink and drive, don't text and drive; don't watch the Navigation screen while driving} Just my thoughts.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The start-up warning is on most if not all auto built-in Nav systems and has been forever. Not sure if it is an actual mandated requirement or just legal preempting that has stayed around, but has been debated for years. Most just ignore it and let it go away - there may be hacks for some cars that disable it.

It's on GPSs too - or at least it was on all my Garmins.

I am glad it is there. At least with this car you can actually use the nav system while you drive (passenger) unlike my wife's Honda where your forced to put it into park to use the thing.

On the 15 does it actually go away on its own? On my 14 I have to push the DIS control or the popup will stay on the screen no matter how long I wait or how far I drive. I have looked through the menus and there is no way to disable it.

Yes it does however it takes about 10 seconds after the car is started up to do so. You need to check off the box in the settings for this to happen or else it will remain until you physically accept it like on the Gen 1 models.

Is this only an option on the DIS nav or touch also? I can't find it.

The setting is in "other settings". Use the steering wheel to go to settings and scroll down to the bottom. It's there.

Kind of funny that non GPS equipped cars with electronic climate controls, Bluetooth interfaced smart phones and multi media audio systems, all operated via touch screens, don't use or don't have to use a responsibility wavier at start up? Phones don't either .
GPS portables like those from Garmin are aimed at automotive users and use a responsibility acceptance screen just like the factory installed Nav systems.
These days anything one does sitting behind the wheel of a car that isn't actually driving can and will be used in a court of law as the foundation for a 'distracted driver' visit through our legal system should you miss your turn and drive into the ocean or my house.
Without the benefit of a user acceptance waiver the blame will be spewed all over the place with fault/blame usually going to the manufactures (the folks with the real money) because they didn't tell us that driving while looking at your dashboard can have risks .
I don't want to frighten anyone but the marine GPS chart recorder navigation radar package on my boat doesn't have a warning screen and I sometimes drive the boat at night - with no headlights . Guess big fast boats never crash?

Anytime you see anything really screwy with a car, or its documentation, look to the lawyers.

This is nothing but legalese/boilerplate to save the company's bacon.

Also, there is a wait time for the system to boot - this is in the documentation. So, they use it for a short legal lecture.

Actually, as has been with all other manufacturer with Navs for years, it's there way of listening to their lawyers.

A driver who would need a "pop up agreement", or safety reminder, before driving a car should not be driving a car - esp. not one with a 420 hp engine.

Warning - don't do what I did.

I switched the pop-up agreement to a foreign language so at least I wouldn't be able to read it.

The whole car changed over to the new foreign language - a real bear to change it back - since everything at that point was in my new language.

New cars are fun.
