  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

I purchased a Sapphire Blue / Cashmere 4.6 last night and I love it! However, the navigation is acting very strangely. First, it does not reroute itself, as would any other nav system I've seen. It sticks to an initial route and demands that you go that way. My car's location also gets lost, as if the GPS isn't receiving. It will freeze and not update where I am on the screen. It looks like it tries to, but doesn't quite work. Last night while driving home from the dealership the car said I was in the middle of Reagan Airport, when in fact I was sitting in traffic on the 14th st bridge...The only way to get it to come back is to turn off the car and restart.

Has anyone else had these issues, and does anyone know how to fix them?

OK, I think it may be some kind of connection problem with the antenna and the computer because my radio reception isnt up to snuff either...

so anyone else seeing this?

I had a similar problem, one time. The cause was trying to start the NAVI and set a destination in the garage while there was no signal. Went on a 30mile trip and the thing never figured out where it was. Jumped all over, had me trying to exit at every exit on the interstate. Since then I have always selected "start route guidance" outside, after the NAVI has a signal. Never had another problem.

In regards to "re-route", it always tries to get you back to the original route IT planned, when you selected "set destination." It picks its route based on setup parameters you set: fastest, shortest, etc. For you, coming from Reagan, it's gonna pick either 395-S or the GW parkway to get out to the beltway. In order to force a preference, just drop a waypoint along the route you prefer. It will then recalc and send you the way you wanted to go.

i understand about setting a destination while not having a signal, I work with GPS's a bit and I know that one should never turn on one inside, as it will screw it all up. However, my car hasn't been in a garage yet; it gets screwy immediately upon startup. It can't even find out where it is at all anymore...

Another thing to check is to ensure the dealer set it to the correct state. If you're sitting in Fairfax and the car thinks it is in PA, it's confused, big time.

IF it is in the settings, I can't find it. Does anyone know specifically where it is? I checked pretty much everything and couldn't find a setting like that...

Sorry I couldn't find it this weekend. I knew Hyundai had addressed this in the past. CLICK HERE

OK,

Well after a week at the dealership they replaced the entire head unit. This fixed all my problems! Looks like the harmon/kardon - Lexicon systems are having issues.

Anyway, after using the Nav to go on a road trip to Annapolis this morning, I must say I love the Nav in this car. We also went to Attman's in Baltimore; which of course was in the POI's. This car has tons of POI's by the way. Love it!

I will say that the suspension is a little cushy or bouncy when compared to my Tiburon, but it's not bad. And nothing is better than the passing power of the 375 horses on the highway. It'll put a smile on your face every time.
