  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation Quick Guide

Ric -- do you have any idea what the benefit is to define one's home state? I'll admit to not being very "nav savvy", but the car "knows" where it is at any given time by virtue of GPS positioning, and of course, one can ID "home" right down to the address, so it's not obvious to me why one's home state needs to be loaded in.

At any rate, I tried to follow the instructions in your link, but it seems like all I'm doing is defining the state for whatever destination I'm about to load.

It's a timing thing. The system will "eventually" figure out where it is. But if it is set to Kansas, and you put it on a truck to Minnesota, when you crank it up it will be clueless where it is , for awhile. I assume they put out this guide because some folks were getting confused. If you try to type in 376 First Street as a destination, it will search its database for where it is (current state). If your going far, it needs to know the state your aiming at to properly look up destination addresses.
