Navigation screen stuck on language choice screen

Hey everybody! New to the site. I just picked up my 2012 black on black Genesis 3.8 w/ premium package last night. The problem is that my navigation screen is stuck on the language choice. All the choices including enter are grayed out. The radio, XM, and bluetooth work fine. Anybody know of a fix or is the dealer going to have to replace the head unit. Thanks for any help.

Disconnect Battery for 10 minutes, re connect and system will reboot.

This is my second round for this problem. Dealer said that they have seen an up tick in Navigation screen freeze. He said it was 2,000 to replace the first screen in my car and they were going replace it again. Only happens in the touch screen.

Nav (and entertainment system) warranty runs out a 36K miles / 36 months, whichever comes first.

2012 Genesis 3.8 V6 premium Titanium-gray on Saddle...

Car is less than a month old. Less than 2000 miles. NAV system has frozen. The warning screen comes on, as usual, but the "agree" button is grayed out and doesn't function. All radio functions are normal. Voice command is inoperable; it tries to initialize but fails to do so.

Dealer (in FL) unable to solve the problem and says it has never been encountered before.. They say that a new NAV system will need to be installed and part(s) will take at least a week to get.

It seems after I turned bluetooth off of my phone when I experienced the Hyundai Genesis start up screen that frozed, worked. Try that as well, seems maybe it is freezing or hanging from when the bluetooth attempts to connect.

I am sorry to say that I am having the same problem with my new 2012 3.8 v6 genesis. The screen is stuck just as others have described. car only has 3500 miles and it worked up until yesterday. I brought it to the dealer and they have ordered a new unit but I have not tried disconnecting the battery. Wouldn't they have tried this in their service dept? My question to you all is whether it is worth it for me to disconnect the battery first before having them install a new unit. I am somewhat concerned that a new unit can be put in with as good of a fit as the way it came from the factory. If the battery disconnect fixes the problem I would rather do that than have someone tear apart the dashboard. What do you think? Any feedback will be helpful. The dealer said it will take a week to get a new unit in.

While the screen is frozen/locked up, press the "PHONE" button. Do you get a small blue banner at the top of the screen that says "Initialising Bluetooth" (or similar).

This is what happens on the 2010-2012 cases that are reported when the touchscreen system is locked/frozen with the H logo showing and I would like to know if this issues has this characteristic as well. If so, then maybe Hyundai has tried a "fix" in later models that get past the H logo, but lock up later in the "boot" sequence.

Yes, when I press the "phone" button after the screen locks on language choice screen, it says on the top "Initializing Bluetooth handsfree" and then just returns to the locked language choice screen. My vehicle was built in Dec 2011. I purchased it in March. What do you think about disconnecting the battery cable to see if that fixes it or should I just have them put the new unit in when they get it? Is it reasonable to think the "head unit" can be replaced and still make it look as good as it does now? Thanks.

It can't hurt to do a battery disconnect reset, but that will not "fix" it...

Looks like the same issue, but freezing/locking up on at different point in the "boot" sequence...you can see from the other thread that it is intermittent and seems to be frequent at times and rare at times. Mine has not done it for a month or so at this time...

It is characterized as follows:

1. Blue flying H logo on screen after engine start.
2. Radio functions normally (but no display of radio info).
3. Backup camera does NOT function in reverse.
4. Pushing PHONE button shows a blue banner that reads "Bluetooth Initializing"

Other observations:

Pressing and holding the ON/OFF button has NEVER reset the system in my case.

Rarely, the system will get past the frozen screen after several minutes on it's own.

Rarely does stopping and restarting clear it up.

Seems more prevalent when my wife uses the car where she is out of it for 10-30 minutes and then gets back in. Never seems to happen after the cars has sat for a few hours or overnight.

It seems to reduce the likelihood of occurrence if you wait until the system has "booted up" fully before putting the car in gear, but it does not eliminate the issue.

thank you for your reply and links to other threads which I have not seen. After reading them, my situation seems a little different in that since the first time the screen froze on the language choice screen, it has remained there and never has gone beyond that screen. The rep said there is a "short" and the factory told him to put in a new head in. Well, I sure hope that fixes it. I had a 2005 Prius with built in navigation and it never had a problem after 140,000 miles of driving. I am very disappointed in the Genesis. I like everything else about it but I am beginning to wonder what is next! I will have the dealer install the new unit, hopefully next week, but I have read enough already to not believe that will be the end of it.

My 2012 3.8 V6 Genesis NAV screen and Voice Command freeze required a new unit to be installed. Dealer tried all manner of work-arounds. None worked so a new part was flown in from CA. All is now working normally. I can detect no difference in the appearance of the screen. Problem took a week to diagnose and repair. I suspect that most dealers now are aware of the problem and how to fix it. I think it is fair to say that others with this problem can ignore the various suggestions made here (disconnect battery etc.)

The dealer installed the parts to fix my frozen nav screen yesterday. So far it is working. Here is what the invoice said they did:
" performed electronic pin point trace down testing and found internal failure of audio unit ... replaced audio unit and retested ok" ( I never had any audio problems with the car)
"verified concern of nav screen locked on agreement screen. Removed and replaced nav head unit as diagnosed. Found navigation and audio to be as designed at this time"

So that is what they did and it is working so far. I noticed that it seems to take a little longer for the language choice screen "agree" button to light up but so far it has worked. Can't really remember if it always took a few seconds. I also asked the tech if he checked if the XM satellite needed to be reset with SirriumXM. It did and it took longer for him to get through to XM than the repair! So check this out if you need the same work done. The only part that got removed from the dash for this was the area below the screen where the CD goes. It looks like he did a good job as I haven't noticed a difference.

I have a 2012 Genesis with 12000 miles on it. In the last 2000 or so miles the navigation screen intermittently freezes and reboots. Sometimes the rear camera doesn't come on when I put the car in reverse and then comes on just as I put the car in drive and the camera screen is frozen for several minutes. Then the entire system reboots. I had it in the dealership for four days and they couldn't find the problem. Any suggestions other than disconnecting the battery and starting the car again?

I'm a 2010 Genesis Owner and my screen is now stuck as well.
I've looked everywhere for a solution to this. The dealer tried updates, but nothing worked. They wanted 6K for a new one, or 600 for repair.
Did anyone have a solution to this?
Please help if you have.
