Navigation system lockout?

Can you set a new destination manually (i.e., not by voice command) on the Genesis navigation system while the car is in motion? I know that some other cars (like my wife's 2011 Toyota Sienna) lock out some functions while the car is in motion. I hate that! My 2009 Acura TL allows setting a new destination (such as the nearest gas station if you are running out of gas!) while you are driving, and I need to know if the Genesis navigation system allows you to do the same. I'm a prospective owner and can't find this information anywhere on the web. The advice of experienced Genesis owners is much appreciated; I hope to reciprocate when I get my new car!

Good Question...On the Touchscreen Nav that is available on the 3.8L cars with the Premium Package, I believe that I have had my wife look up a destination while I was driving...So, I believe that the answer is YES in the case of the Touchscreen Nav.

Note, the tech package Nav is different and I have no idea about its functionality while driving...

As a prospective owner, you should know that the "nag" screen at startup reminding you not to use the Nav while driving MUST be dismissed by the user. It will not time out and go away on its own. Not a huge deal, but it is one of those things that really bother some and not others.

Hmmm. Perhaps this is how they get away without any functionality lockout...hmm. I don't know of any regulations regarding this, but maybe you get one case or the other, but not both...

Thanks for the replies. My Acura TL also has a "nag" screen, which blanks out after about 15 seconds if you don't manually dismiss it. To see the navigation map, you need to call it up again and manually dismiss it. I don't mind doing that; I'd rather have that than to have them disable many of the navigation functions while the car is in motion.

The car I'm considering is the 2012 Genesis 4.6, which has the "tech" navigation system. I understand it works somewhat differently from the "premium" touchscreen navigation system. So I guess my question is narrowed down to the "tech" system on the 4.6; and I HOPE it allows me to use the navigation system functions while the car is in motion. Any "tech" navi users out there want to comment?

YES, there are several ways to set a destination not using voice commands. Its in the manual and I have used the various ways.

My 2009 V8/Tech sedan lets me do pretty much anything NAV oriented while the car is in motion. I can initiate a new destination, modify an existing route, etc. without pulling over. By voice or by the DIS knob.

On my car, the only things that get disabled when the vehicle is in motion are:
* DVD video is blanked (audio keeps playing) when the transmission is not in Park.
* Some "system settings" can not be selected/adjusted while the vehicle is in motion - based on MPH, not transmission lever position. I.e. when stopped, even in Drive, these menu options re-appear.

I have one of early/original 2009s; no NAV database or DIS firmware updates.

Yes, you can set a destination on tech package while driving. The only difficulty I've had is that the system goes into guidance mode too quickly to look at multiple routes to the destination.
