  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was experiencing intermittent audio problems with my original Lexicon system in my 2009 Genesis Sedan, so the dealership replaced the radio with a refurbished one to fix the problem. Ever since they put in a refurbished radio, I no longer have access to the NavTraffic information (the option does not appear on the screen as it used to, and you don't have the option to select it in the menu anymore). I previously had access to all NavTraffic functions including flow control, incidents, accidents, construction, etc. I am paying for the service through XM, the radio ID is correct, and I am driving on incident-enabled highways (I am in Atlanta). XM says that they believe it is a hardware issue, and Hyundai thinks it is an XM issue, and I just don't know. I do receive all XM radio channels perfectly, so it is definitely not a signal issue. I have been trying to get this fixed since early December - the dealership has actually replaced it two more times with more refurbished radios and it has not fixed the problem. I don't know if this information is relevant or not, but the refurbished radios were newer versions than my original (they have all had more options that my original radio did not have).

I'm hoping that someone else on this forum has experienced a similar problem and found a resolution, as my dealership and XM can not seem to figure it out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Refurbished hardware in the information and entertainment systems seems to be problematic. In the other thread you posted to I mentioned that my XM issues went away once they put in a brand new amp, to replace the refurbished unit they installed earlier. Others have experienced the same thing. I believe that there's something that happens when new components power up for the first time that binds them to other devices in the car. This is likely an anti-theft feature. That is, if someone steals the radio, head-unit, amp or other component, they'll not be able to get it completely working again.

Insist that your dealer replace the refurb radio with a brand new unit. I'd bet money that your issues go away.

Thanks Greg! I actually just spoke to the dealership yesterday and they have ordered a new radio. They basically said what you did - that the refurb radios don't fully work, but said it was specific to the '09 Genesis. I don't know if that is true or not, I just know I am getting a brand new radio next week and am looking forward to having the full functionality of my system again. Thank you so much for the quick response and help. I'll come back here and let you know next week if the new radio fixed the problem!

Good news! The NavTraffic is finally working again. They had to replace both the radio and the amp with brand new ones to fix the problem. (Lucky for me, it was still under warranty). Thanks again for your help!
