  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am having major problems with Navtraffic. I searched the forum but have yet to find a solution. I live in Charlotte, NC. It worked when I first picked up the car.

UPDATE:
I called XM and they resent the signal so the option is no longer blacked out. Now I get traffic updates and alerts, but I do not get anything on the highways showing green, red, or yellow. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

Thanks!

UPDATE 2:
I had XM resend the signal and now I dont get any traffic again. Does anyone have any ideas on this?? XM support seems useless and I havent contacted Hyundai yet, but this is very annoying.

Thanks!

UPDATE #3 The traffic icon alerts were working, but now they arent again. I confirmed that my local area does not have incident enabled freeways yet.

Strange, as I live in the Raleigh area and mine works just fine (unless I am missing something). I get the icons and info on closed roads, accidents, congestion, and road closures at the press of the center console control button. I would have thought the more populous Charlotte would be ahead of Raleigh on this.

I only get the info on closed roads and incidents (sometimes). I never get any flow data though. I checked the XM website for Charlotte and Raleigh and for both cities as of July 2008 there is no flow data available. Are you sure you are getting the flow data in red, yellow, green?)

drew0020,
You are correct, I see no flow data. Assuming that means the colors of the road on the map change when the conditions of the road change. I only get icons and info. Sorry for the confusion if I caused any.

Not a problem at all. I just wish my traffic would work all of the time. Flow data would be really nice though. I reviewed the XM site and the flow data seems really limited unfortunately.

Hey! I live just south of Charlotte and just picked up my car yesterday. I got the tech package for my husband (so he doesn't try to trade his IS350 in on a Genesis LOL) I haven't tried setting anything up yet -- it's disappointing to hear about the traffic not working so well, though I don't drive all that much in traffic. I'll keep an eye out for ya -- I'm in Champagne, waitin' on my wings!

I finally got the traffic icons to stay on, but I really wanted the flow data. It seems only very few areas in the USA get flow data. Im definitely not paying for traffic once my trial is over because it offers almost nothing. Ill just pull up google maps on my iphone to get the flow data (its usually decent).

drew0020,
In your communications with XM/Sirius, did they give any indication when the flow data may be available in our neck of the woods? Hopefully this is something that is a work in progress. However, I imagine they are working with the municipalities using their infrastructure. Meaning with the economy the way it is, this may be something that goes unfunded if deemed a nice to have and not a need.

I also wonder how this technology works. You can clearly see that The Weather Channel and other local media outlets use some type of road sensors. As I often see them displaying traveling speeds on the local intestates and major routes. Same technology, I wonder?

I dont know how you roll a service like this out (it reminds me of satellite radio, but only having 10 stations-would would purchase it??) and expect people to pay each month when they give you pretty much nothing. Id prefer a partnership with Google/Mapquest so at least I can get an idea on my Navscreen as to the flow conditions on the roads.

XM service is awful. The people I have talked with were rude, slow, and generally did not know anything about the product.
