  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm hoping to get the attention of a moderator but I think a few changes are necessary on these forums.

1) I think that the sedan subsections need to be cleaned up a bit as we have 'Wheels, Tires, Brakes and Suspension Performance Modifications' as well as 'Wheels, Tires, Detailing, Lighting and Appearance Modifications'. I don't see the sense in having two separate sections for wheels and tires as it splits the threads and makes it more confusing for users to find what they are looking for. Why would I need to look in two separate sub sections for the same thing?

2) As time goes on its becoming more and more apparent that the 2nd generation 2015+ sedans need their own subsections for everything. The 'Hyundai Genesis Sedan Audio, Bluetooth, GPS and Electronics Technology' section is quite different for 2015+ cars as are performance modifications, wheel fitment, suspension setups, lighting/appearance mods, etc. The discussions are starting to get confusing as its not always immediately apparent what model year is being discussed and given how different the two generations are I don't see the sense in combining them.

Hello and thank you for this.

For your first question, the sub sections are broken down for 2 different types of users. The one that modifies for look, the other modifies for performance. We discussed this at length and thought this to be the best solution. Feel free to propose another solution if you so possess one because we are always open to improve!

As to the second question, we have been addressing this here and there. We have added a prefix for "specific" subsections where you can choose the generation of vehicle of which one is speaking of. This has eliminated some of the confusion but a little does still remain. Again, a proposed solution is always something worth letting us know!

You can propose the solutions here or PM them to me. We are always willing to listen :)

Thank you

I propose that there is a 'Wheels, Tires, Brakes and Suspension Performance Modifications' and a 'Detailing, Lighting and Appearance Modifications' section. I say this because although some consider wheels a visual modification, tires/wheels are fundamentally items that affect the handling of a vehicle and group well together with other similar items like brakes and suspension. Items like lighting, detailing, body kits, etc do not affect handling and belong in their own sections. I don't see the harm in separating them this way while I do see issues with having two subsections with duplicate purpose. I like to view other members tire/wheel recommendations and don't see the sense in checking two subsections for this purpose. I also like to asks tire/wheel related questions and whenever I make a thread I have to hope that individuals with pertinent knowledge are checking both sections of the forum (or I can double post everything which is awful). Any benefit to having them split this way is heavily outweighed by the confusion/inconvenience of having two sections.

When it comes to separating the various vehicle generations, I recommend looking at the big Genesis Coupe forum. Every time I tried to type the name this forum converts it to Genesis Coupe so I can't enter it here but you likely know which one I'm referring to. They have clearly distinct sections for 2010-2012 and 2013+ coupes. You should do something similar for the sedans as 1st generation and 2nd generation sedans have even less in common than BK1 and BK2 coupes.

As an aside, the forum annoyingly does not allow me to type 'gen'. When I type 2nd 'gen' sedan for generation, the forum converts to 2nd Genesis Sedan. I also can't type out the name of the big Genesis Coupe forum for this same reason.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will bring these up with the admin.

The gen thing is weird seeing as how it never does it for me lol. And it is on purpose that you cannot type in the coupe forum website. They are a direct competitor to us and therefore we will not allow the forum name here for obvious reasons.

Thank you again.
