  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

:) I have a 2012 genesis limited loaded with 20,000 mi. that is flawless and it has a very smooth ride. My dealer let me take a 15 genny 3.8 ultimate for2 day test drive. My 12 has a smoother ride, to be fair the 15 has new hankooks and is not broke in yet. The 15 is a joy to drive and I want it. I am not smart about this. Will the hankooks get smoother and quieter with time, and should I keep them or have the Michelins put on now for a smoother ride. I LOVE THE CAR. It just doesn't seem like much of an upgrade in the way of a smoother and quieter ride than my 12. I have to let them Friday 10/9. Anyone that has some input on the tires getting smoother it would be greatly appreciated. THANKS MELLOW

My Hankooks were very smooth and quiet when new and, 14,000 miles later, they are still just as smooth and quiet! I prefer them to the Michelins I experienced on a loaner Genesis I had for 2 weeks recently (loaner was same 3.8 AWD model as mine).

Drive the Hankook's for a while and then switch if not happy. There is no rush and why not take advantage of a free set of tires to try out?

Check the air in those tires. They often have about 40 PSI in them which could make a big difference to your decision.

I would definitely get a new one. A car with 20,000 miles is worthless and will probably just be crushed and melted by your dealer.

common sense says drive it till u need new tires, the replacement is good for 3 years, just about the time when its time to change tires anyways. the 18 inch replacement is worth about 600, the 19 inch set is worth about 800.

if u can get good price on the trade in then id go for it. but the deep discounts on the 2015 genesis are no longer available l

Thanks for the heads up about the air pressure. I hope that's all it is. The offer is my car and $25,000 about $45k for an empire gray with ivory int. ultimate package. Dealer will pay for tint (how dark can I GET AWAY WITH) and rebadge. I don't know about deep discounts but seems fair to me. I feel like there more room to negotiate is there any thing else I should push for. The entertainment won't shut off till I open the door. Is that normal? THANKS AGAIN MELLOW

Tint laws vary by state, so Google them. If you live in a warm climate and need to block heat, get a high quality ceramic tint film, and not just a dyed or charcoal tint. Most likely the dealer will do a dyed or charcoal tint by default because it is cheaper.

Good point, but at least the dealer will provide a new monthly payment coupon book in return.

I'm still trying to figure out what a '12 Genesis Limited is. ????

lol PMCErnie, I immediately thought the same thing.

forget logic. get the new one. but get the 5.0 :-)

In 2012 you could get a genny with nav.,moonroof, quality materials. That was the limited For 5k less you could get a gls. Kind of like a base 15. Still would like your opinion of my dealers offer 25k plus my car worth 19k trade in for an empire gray with ivory ultimate package with some goodies thrown in.

Well regardless of what you do, I'd say check your original paperwork for your 2012. For a while during 2012, Hyundai was offering a guaranteed trade-in value for the Genesis. There should have been a little blue and white coupon with your VIN number on it. Might save you some cash.

I love my 2015, but I confess I do occasionally miss the top-end of my 2012 (both 5.0s). Otherwise the 2015 is a better car in every other respect.

wait check with carmax first, dealers will always low ball you big time. carmax offer always comes in higher

I am not sure if you are talking about a Genesis sedan, but there has never been (2009-2015) a Limited, or a GLS version of the Genesis Sedan in the USA. Maybe some other country, not sure.

2009-2014 Trim Levels
  • Base
  • Premium Package
  • Premium Plus Package (only in early years)
  • Technology Package
  • R-Spec (2012-2014)

I am not sure that mellow understands what I was trying to say. I guess it won't do any good to suggest he keep the 2012 until it hits 50K miles and use the money to increase his savings/investments for retirement.

My bad Mark. I have premium and tech, the limited was the azera I thought I wanted and that was another mistake. And your right about keeping the 12 at least another year I paid cash for it. My real concern is the history of the 15. The car I picked out 2 weeks ago had Michelins every genny did this car has hankooks. PSI READ 33 34 FRONT 34 35 REAR. Woud that be enough to affect the ride? THANKS AGAIN MELLOW

That PSI sounds fine and should not cause any problems with the ride comfort.

That is the correct PSI. You should have only felt the vibration with the Hankooks for a few minutes. After they warm up the flat-spotting should go away.

As tires wear, they get louder. At least that's my experience.
