  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2011 4.6, 146,000 miles and have the check engine light on.

I have a decent Autel scanner, so pulled C1604, (and C1606) which looks like it is for the Electronic Power Steering Torque Sensor. Curious if anyone else had this previously and wondering if the fix was to replace the torque sensor module? Don't want to unload the parts cannon if I don't have to.

I also have C1698 Key ID not valid? If that description is correct, not sure what the problem is, I have the same 2 keys since new, new batteries about a year or so ago.

P0496 EVAP system high purge flow. Not sure where to start with this one.

Hoping someone has dealt with these codes in the past and looking to see what was replaced to fix the issue.

I had the check engine light on a few weeks ago, and had a bunch of codes in the history, so I just cleared everything out and these are the code that came back and are Active.

P0496 purge valve should be normally closed. A "high flow" error means it's not closing and has likely failed (90% of the time). $40 part, 2 minute fix using a pair of pliers, a 10mm and a hose pick or trim tool. Before you buy the new part, you can remove the current one and check it with your mark 1 human mouth: If you can suck or blow air through it, even a little bit, it's bad. If you got 145k out if yours, then you got 50k more than I did.

The two C1604/C1606 look like ECU errors to me (hardware/software respectively). You'll want to get the car in front of someone (preferably an automotive electrician) with a Hyundai GDS that can interrogate the ECU/IPM/SMK/PDM modules for these two as well as the C1698.
