  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2011 Genesis Sedan 3.8 without warning loses electrical power...ALL POWER. I first noticed it when I tried to open the door using the fob. At first, I thought it was a glitch, as the power suddenly restored & I was able to start the car. Now it happening more often, When it does happen, I am able to restore power by opening the trunk & slamming it close. I have checked the battery cables are secure (not loose). I would appreciate any help on what might be the cause & how I can resolve it.

I had similar issues and the fix for my car was to replace my 1 year old battery with a new one. Problem solved ever since.

Normally I'd not suspect a 1 year old battery but they can be defective too. The battery cables have two ends too. Make sure the other end has a good connection also.

As others have said about the battery: How old is the battery? It sounds like something isnt connected the right way. If the battery is relatively new then I'd disconnect everything and reconnect it all back slowly to make sure you dont have a loose connection.

If that dosnt solve it then I'd get the battery tested and replaced if its 4-5 years old or do a Warranty on the one if its new and battery problems can have a lot of other issues in this car that has a ton of electronics.

I posted a deal about an AGM battery ($106ish) if you need it while I am on my 7thish year with the Original I might be replacing it myself and just be a bit proactive about the battery in case it craps out on me.
