  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm having a pretty bad experience with a very well-known transmission shop in my area. Long story short they broke the plastic tee fitting that connects the two hoses together on top of the bell housing. After months of getting the run around I went to the dealership myself and found out they have to order the whole hose assembly to get that part. However, now I'm told this part is backordered. Anyone here happen to work in a dealership where they could check this or have a fix that I can relay to this shop? My car has literally been there for 10 months now.

At least on the bright side of things after having a sit down with the manager I'm not being charged for replacing the transmission....

You could try buying an aftermarket t-fitting that fits and see if works until the proper OEM part ships.

General the car companies uses standard high quality hoses and plastic t-fittings. Fitment issues are usually from the formed curving hoses and specially molded housings. However, replacement t-fittings are easier to match up, but I would use a good quality plastic(or rust proof metal) t-fitting that can handle over 300F degrees since transmission fluid get very hot.

Something like this would work in the proper size and stand up to the heat of hot transmission fluid without rusting.

Forget what I just posted. The transmission t-fitting is a special molded design, therefore a standard shape t-fitting will not work. This is the better option for the connector if in stock.

Unfortunately the plastic tee alone is discontinued and you have to get the whole assembly. That took me 10 minutes at the dealership parts counter to figure out but the shop that has my car couldn’t.

Do Hyundai dealers have the ability to check other dealer’s parts inventory? My local dealer just checks the distribution center stock and they keep pushing the ETA date on the part.

You can try the online part website in the previous post and see if they have a connector in stock before you give up. It is a cheap part. Can not hurt giving them a call to verify.

Maybe a salvage yard could help you out. Try the row 52 website.
Saw a 2nd Gen in Riverside IL. There are people that will pull the part and ship it.

I had the same part crack several months ago. The dealership informed me that the manufacturer is no longer manufacturing the part. They called yesterday to state that the part should be available this month. I don't know if this means that Hyundai contracted with another manufacturer to produce the part, but I can ask the next time I talk to them.

I called the dealer and they gave me an ETA of 5/28. However the last time I called the ETA was 3/24. He said a dealer showed one in stock, but it was allocated, in NC. I called that dealer and he said it was installed on a car this week and his phone has been blowing up over that part all week. On national backorder.

You are correct. They plastic tee is discontinued and only sells the whole assembly now.

FML….I just want my car back.
