  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,
All of a sudden, my trunk will not open at all. Pressing the button on the trunk, holding the unlock on the key fob, or hitting the button on the dash all result in the car beeping 5 times with no action. I've tried unlocking and locking 1000 times, I've turned on the smart trunk which just resulted in an orchestra of beeps. I've put down the rear seats and hit the emergency release which will unlatch and then relatch. If I pull it and then push up I can manually pull it up. Pressing the close button on the trunk will then close and latch no problem, but then will not open. I've check and made sure there is nothing in the way, it's definitely closing fully, just won't open at all. I'm supposed to leave on a road trip in 2 hours and now am pretty screwed since I can't get anything in it.
Thanks

and I'm dumb. It was the fuse. Surprised it would close no problem but not open if that was the issue

Have you a valet lock button in glove compartment?

Easier to just use the mechanical key...

This just happpen to me ona 2020 G70...and I JUST bought it one month ago. The Trucnk warning light is flashing red on the dash. I can not open the trunk, but can if I crawl in through the back seat, the emergency release will open it. If I close it...same problem.
I checked the Trunk fuse...it it fine.
Any suggestions?

Just happened today to my ‘19 3.3t. Can’t open it with inside button, manually or with key fob either. Red warning light flashing too on dash. I swapped out fuse labeled “trunk” but it didn’t help. What was your solution? Have oil change appt with dealer next month so guess I’ll wait till then and not use my trunk for a while.

Update on my trunk issue mentioned above. Had to get entire trunk latch replaced. Fixed the issue. Noticed just today Kia is recalling 320k cars among a few older models for faulty latches similar to the g70 recall last yr. Guess Hyundai/Kia screwed up on their trunk latches a few yrs back.

Do you happen to have the part number? I'm having the same issue right now.

there was a recall notice about this

Where is the fuse located
On which car? You have posts saying you have a 2010 Genesis Sedan, and a 2018 G80. Do you also have a G70? What year?

In that case how is knowing where a fuse on a G70 is going to help you?
What problem exactly are you experiencing?

On the inside of your glove compartment, theres a lock/unlock button for the trunk. Try that.
