  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I think my Lexicon 17 has crossed over into the "unusable" category after the TSB was applied yesterday.

A bit of background...I bought the car a year ago, 09 Genesis Sedan 4.6 with Tech.

All audio/video functions worked well, except for this annoying bug with the voice recognition system. After issuing a command, or cancelling recognition, the audio system would be muted. DIS control knob would also be non-functional. Reboots / restarting the car usually fixed it.

So, had it in for the recalls yesterday, and mentioned the TSB to do the software update for the Lexicon...hoping that this would fix the issue.

(Dealer scoffed at the idea, telling me "TSB's aren't for consumers to look at.")

They ended up applying the update. Driving away from the dealer, it appeared to have fixed the problem...could do voice recognition commands, with no muting problems.

I noticed, however, that the DIS "return" button was mashed in, but after playing with it a bit, it popped out and worked.

Had a drive home, enjoying the Lexicon 17. Was able to change tracks using the knob, and also the "forward" buttons on the steering wheel. Same for radio stations.

Then, later in the evening, took it out for another spin, and pressed the "map" button. Problem...system is hung up in "Navigation is starting up". Never comes out of that state.

Went into the super secret menu, looked around for anything that would help diagnose navigation...ultimately just reset the system. Still no go.

Read some posts where people had had the same issue...seemed to be intermittent, so I hoped this morning all would be well.

Unfortunately, no so. After starting, trying, restarting the car...the problem with voice recognition "hanging up" the system is back, navi still stuck, and how I've noticed that the DIS knob has stopped taking rotary input (as well as the steering wheel forward/backward). Volume up/down works. DIS "enter" (press) works.

So, I don't know what to do...thinking I've got a bad head unit. Dealer wants $2,200 to replace. Ebay searching resulted in far better pricing...around $400.

However, wanted to be sure I got the right units, and I don't have (now pay) access to HMAonline.

Can anyone post for me the part numbers for the Lexicon 17 head unit, the amplifer, and the DIS knob assembly?

Also, any other troubleshooting ideas would very much be appreciated. Going to take the negative off the battery after work and try to force a reset.

If I can get back into the diagnostic mode (impossible with out DIS knob rotary control), I'm going to "reset to factory"...someone mentioned that that might work for the navi issue.

This is so frustraiting. Probably time to sell the car...gonna miss the awesome Lexicon 17...nothing comes close to how awesome it is.

Thanks in advance for ideas, help with part numbers.
