  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up my new 3.8 Track yesterday after work.

Funny story about this.

I was sick last week and while sitting in the recliner with the laptop I got to looking at cars. I came across the Genesis Coupe, saw the yellow color and it bit me bad. I started doing comparison's with Camaro's and Mustangs (I'm a Camaro guy - 2 Z28s, 2, IROCs, and an LT) sort of trying to convince myself not to the the Coupe.

I finally contacted the local dealers, told them what I was looking for (yellow 3.8 Track) and they told me they didn't have one but they'd find one. One dealer sort of gave up. The other dealer called back and told me they couldn't find one and would I be happy with a red or blue one. I told them no way. I wanted a yellow one. They asked about a 2.0 turbo and again I said no. Yellow. 3.8. Track. I asked about the 2012's and they said they wouldn't be out till September. I told them I wasn't waiting till September to buy a car and that I'd been looking at the Camaros (the yellow Camaro is yellow, the yellow Mustang looks like it has a terrible pine pollen buildup on it). The next day they called back to say they had found one in this region (I have no clue how big "this region" is) but I had to put a deposit down so they could convince the other dealer I was serious and they could negotiate a deal to get that yellow 3.8 track sent to them to sell to me. I paid the deposit. Thursday they called to tell me they had good news, the car would be in Thursday night and they'd go through it, make sure everything was right and I could pick it up Friday afternoon.

They told me they got curious about yellow 3.8 tracks since they'd only found the one in "this region" and did a nationwide Hyundai dealer search to see how many were available around the country. They told they'd found two yellow 3.8 tracks in the US. The one I was getting and another one. No one at the dealership had seen a yellow one before. While I was going throught the paperwork folks were waliking out to look it over.

I would have thought that yellow color would have been more popular. It sure is pretty.

One other "funny" thing. When I started talking to the sales guy I thought he looked familiar. When he told me his name I realized he was the same salesman we bought my wife's 2010 Fusion off of almost 2 years ago at the local Ford dealership. What kind of coincidence is that?

Looking forward to many years of fun on the road.

Have a good one.

Congratulations!

When I went to Capital Hyundai in San Jose for oil change a couple of weeks ago, I saw one there. It looked great in yellow. I don't rememeber if it was R-Spec or Track.

First little road trip today.

Filled it up, drove up to the interstate, rode out to near Charlottesville, turned around and came back. Filled it up about a mile from the house.

27.5 mpg.

Cruise was set on 72 but it awful hard to drive it that slow. I used my foot several times and hit it pretty hard several time just to feel that "push" backwards into the seat when it got a little wound up.

I'm gonna like it. A lot.:D

Ran into one little irritating thing today driving it by myself. The passenger side shoulder belt thumps the inside of the door over and over with the sun roof open and the driver's window down. I finally pulled it around to the front of the seat and fastened it to the latch to keep it from thumping from the wind.

Small potatoes for the way it runs/rides/sounds, etc. If I'm not careful it may replace my IROC Z28 a my favorite car that I've owned.

Took it to the hills this weekend.

Loaded down and uphill going in it got 24.9 mpg running 75 to 80 mph.

Coming back today with the trunk still full but only one bag in the back seat it got 27.6 mpg still running 75 to 80 mph.

Its about 250 miles one way.

Coming up the mounting on I-64 from Clifton Forge to Lexington I was in 6th gear and decided to give it a little gas. It accelerated easily and I let off at 95 mph. It sure doesn't seem like it's going that fast.

Dusted a Honda (big tires and big exhaust - no idea what type of engine) that wanted to play games going up the mountain on Rt. 20.

Lost any respect I might have had for a BMW 325i while watching that thing heel over in the curves going up a ramp to get on I-81 today. Reminded me on watching S10 Blazers going around a curve. Pitiful.

Yes, I like it. The more I drive it. The more I like it.

Just filled it up again after a few more days of city/town driving. 23.3 mpg on this one. My wife is only getting 24 to 25 mpg on her 2010 Ford Fusion with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder for town/city driving.

That's certainly not what Mike Rowe would lead you to believe.....:D
