  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you told me I was going to be driving hundai 5 years ago I would have laughed your face. After a tragic it accident with my ford focus I was forced to be in the market for a new car. After seeing the genesis parked in a used car lot for a few days and not knowing what it was (thanks to the lack of badge of front) I had to stop and take a look. The size and styling was incredible and so was the luxury. But how does it drive??? Also incredible considering its a hyundai. Been driving it for 4 days now and I couldn't be happier. It's fast it turns well in my wife loves it. So have a few questions.
- I am enthusiastic so I would like to see more power. even know the 3.8 is adequately powerd and fun. Who is making a mild exhaust for these cars? intake? Handheld tuner?
- what kind of parts are interchangable from the coupe to the sedan?
- does anybody run premium in there 3.8? And have you know that's better gas mileage from it? And is it something that is not recommended for the manufacture???

1. Exhaust change is available, don't mess with intake(to many electronics may get screwed up, no tuning is available as far as I know.

2. Few if any parts are interchangable

For the cost of these items, you could have gotten a V8. Also be aware that these type of things can sometimes damage your engine, and (unless you got CPO from a dealer) the drive-train warranty is only 5 yrs/50,000 miles. Of course, if the dealer finds out about such mods, they might not even honor the 5 yrs/50,000 mile warranty.

Although Hyundai says the V8 can use regular or premium (more HP with premium), apparently the V6 is designed to only run on regular. If you really want to, you could try mid grade, but premium might be overkill, and maybe not good for the engine.

Hey thanks for the input guys. Like I said is the powers very adequate and fun in this car. The upgrades themselves would be more efficiancy and sound. Looks like i got a car that cand be improved on much. Im going to end up doing the re-badge everyone on here seems to do. And call it good. I even like the factory rimms that came with it. Its just hard for me to leave a car alone. Lol

The factory sound system in the tech package(if that is what you have) is a 17 speaker Lexicon which is what is in a Rolls Royce, its one of the 3 or 4 best factory sound systems on the planet. If you add to the sound systems make sure you get it done by a professional sound shop that has upgraded Lexicon systems. If a shop does not know what a lexicon is then stay away, far away. Spend your money on really good tires from Continental, Michellin or Bridgestone, you won't be regret that spending. And maybe some high quality window tint.

When i said sound i ment exhaust note and engine noise. I wouldnt touch that kick @ss stereo system if you payed me. Iv found the magnaflow system but it just seems too loud and ricey...id like something that could have been factory on a European sport sedan.

Mark,

Isn't the 2nd owner bumper to bumper warranty 5 years/60,000 miles??

Maybe you are correct, I am too lazy to check it. My point was that unless it is a CPO car bought from dealer, the 10 yr/100K miles drivetrain warranty is only good for original purchaser (not transferable).

I traded from a 3.8 V6, R Spec Genesis Coupe to a 3.8 Genesis Sedan. They are two totally different cars, different personalities and very few interchangable parts. The wheels have the same patterns but the Coupe's are staggered (different sizes front to rear) and the Sedan's are not. I've asked about putting OEM coupe wheels on a Sedan but I haven't gotten a response that the Sedan's traction control will handle a full set of four with the stagger. I know that four tires that are the same size blows the Coupe's traction control mind.

Sounds awesome. One problem tho. I dont have the 4.6.

I know, I just wanted to tease you:p:D

I have seen coupes with the 3.8 that sound very good, but that's a whole different animal and setup.

Lol real funny. I wish some of those 3.8 guys would chime in with their set ups....nudge nudge

Adolph put Jericho sirens in Stuka dive bombers, but they didn't fly any faster.

No... but I'll bet you the sound put the fear of God in folks!

I wonder if the smoke on the video scott posted is an accurate representation of the pollution coming out of the tailpipes of a genesis. It would explain all the black filth on my tailpipes.
