  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

I got a new battery back in may of 2021 and recently (December), the car battery won’t stay charged after a few days. I am not sure if something is staying on after the car is turned off. I seen a post on here about older models having this issue but I am wondering if anyone has had this problem on their 2015 3.6 model.

I would say around September - October I did notice there was liquid under my battery but didn’t think anything of it. I am planning to take the battery out and take it to advance auto. Also, today I jumped it, took it for a ride came back home put the car in park and the rear sunshade went up by itself. I am not sure if that has something to do with it.

You may have a bad alternator(bad rectifier circuit) which is draining the battery as it sit and not properly charging it when you drive the car. New batteries will not solve the battery drain problem if the issue is the alternator.

I would have a shop perform a charging system test and then go from there.

My plan right now is to try a few things I read on here but if I can’t figure it out I will bring it to a mechanic who specializes in electric.

I understand. However, I am betting that it will be a bad alternator.

I can bring it to auto zone down the block from me. I believe they check your alternator.
