After yesterday we have exclusively advanced the first engine specs of Genesis first SUV, the GV80, today Hyundai confirmed the details of the new 2.5-liter, 3.5-liter gasoline engines, 3.0 Diesel engines and new 8 DCT wet transmission we have advanced, at Powertrain Conference held on Seoul.
Hyundai and Kia held the 2019 Hyundai-Kia International Powertrain Conference at the Rolling Hills Hotel (Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do) on Tuesday. The conference, held under the theme of “Innovation of Powertrain Technologies for Sustainable Moblilty”, introduces the next generation powertrain that Hyundai and Kia Motors are introducing to secure future competitiveness.
This year’s event will attract more than 1,300 people from the world’s leading powertrain companies, including Bosch, Continental, Delphi Technologies, Denso, Magna, Male, Schaeffler and Valeo, as well as domestic and international academia, related societies and research institutes.
At the Hyundai-Kia International Powertrain Conference, the company will present 57 topics in seven areas, including not only the latest technology exhibition, but also engine, transmission, exhaust post-processing, eco-friendly cars and motorization, noise and vibration, powertrain virtual development.
In particular, this event will introduce new powertrains such as Smartstream G3.5 T-GDi, Smartstream D3.0, Smartstream wet 8-speed DCT, which will be applied to Hyundai and Kia Motors sequentially from the second half of this year, starting with the Genesis luxury brand models GV80 and G80.
Hyundai-Kia Motors has been striving to develop powertrain technology to continuously secure global technological leadership in the engine and transmission sectors, which are the foundation of automobile manufacturing technology.
As a result, ‘Smartstream’ has significantly improved performance in terms of fuel efficiency combustion improvement, exhaust gas reduction, engine friction reduction compared to previous powertrains, thereby responding to global fuel economy and environmental regulations that are intensifying.
The Smartstream G3.5 T-GDi is an engine with maximum power of 380 hp (ps) and maximum torque of 54 kgf · m. Combustion system improvement. New fuel injection system and new cooling system technology. Through this, Hyundai said they have secured the world’s highest level of competitiveness.
In particular, the Smartstream G3.5 T-GDi is equipped with dual fuel injection technology that combines the advantages of the GDi system that directly injects fuel into the combustion chamber and the MPi system that injects the inlet port of the combustion chamber. In addition, the water-cooled intercooler is applied to increase the unique responsiveness of the turbocharger, and at the same time, it is capable of dynamic performance under various environmental conditions.
