  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What's up everyone, I just purchased a 2013 Equus with 27k miles, got a steal of a deal on it with one owner. I have a question, is there a way to have my music off my iPhone to play in the car? I've connected it up with my USB to see if it works, but it says error. The bluetooth only seems to work with phone calls? All help is greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the new Equus! If I'm not mistaken, this model does not support bluetooth audio. If that's the case, you can add a bluetooth adapter that will give you this feature. This Tunai Firefly adapter, suggested by others on this group, works well and is rated well. They make several versions, with and without calling features, starting around $35.

If the audio system is the same as the older ones used in the original Genesis models, you can go wired but you'll need a different adapter (or two). While searching for what used to be two separate adapters, it looks like someone finally made one that does both for only $16. This should resolve the error message you get when plugging your iPhone directly in to the USB jack.

Perhaps an actual 2013 owner could confirm this first. I have a 2016 which has an entirely different audio system. Good luck and enjoy the ride. And SOUND!

Thank you for the help, I just ordered it. I had a 2012 Genesis, and I've always loved the Equus, found this great deal that could not be passed up for. It comes in Saturday, thank you again.

Glad to hear it! Keep in mind the first solution, the Firefly bluetooth adapter, will not display any song info on your car's screen nor will it control your iPhone. You'll still have to do that through the iPhone itself or via Siri. You'll choose AUX on your audio system when using this device.

The second solution, the wired adapter, does display song info on your car's screen and allows control of your iPhone through your audio system controls. It also keeps your iPhone charged. But it must remain plugged in. You'll choose iPod/iPhone on your audio system when using this device.

Both get the job done! Might not be a bad idea to get both and see which one you like best. The wired solution may be best for long drives and trips while the bluetooth for shorter in-town driving about. Let us know how it goes!

After trying the Bluetooth set up and the connection with wire that plugs into you phone, the Bluetooth works the best. The set up with wire that plugs into your phone makes a white noise sound the entire time it's plugged in and you can hear it over the music or podcast. But thank you for the recommendation!!!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Glad the Bluetooth solution worked for you. Sorry about the wired cable issue. I would definitely return that cable (free returns) as that is not normal. Maybe it's just a defective cable? I suppose you could request a replacement cable? Or just take the refund.

And I was wrong about that cable being able to display song info and be controlled by your Hyundai audio system. Apparently it doesn't. It only passes audio. Sorry. The actual (verified working) solution is to get the Hyundai iPod cable which looks similar to what you purchased but it terminates in the old Apple 30-pin connector. You'll then need the official Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter (no longer in production) so you can use it with your iPhone. I can confirm this absolutely works (or at least did on my 2009 Genesis) but may not be worth the trouble trying to find both units at a reasonable cost. Below is an Ebay auction offering exactly what you would need, for $40, which is very reasonable. And they guy selling it has been using it in his 2013 Equus! So you know it will work.

Good luck and happy driving!
