  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all! I am a brand new 3.8 Genesis owner as of today. (2012) got it with 103k miles, and no major issues. Other than doing the scheduled maintenance at 105 (plugs, fluids, coolant, and need to do trans fluid) anything else I should be aware of? Or replace? Anything to be on the lookout for? Thanks everyone!

Thanks Sal! It replaced my 2010 flex (Ecoboost) which I was a fantastic car. But I threw a rod through the side of the engine block, so it was shot. Was looking for a reliable luxury sadan and ended up with the Genesis.

Great choice as the South Koreans make some of the most reliable luxury automobiles. The Ford Flex was a nice vehicle as well. Very comfortable seats, I remember...

:welcome:

I recently did a 100k service on my "retired" silver 2012 before passing it along: Coolant flush (NOT dump and fill!), rear diff oil, plugs, trans dump and fill (NOT flush!), engine oil and filter, brake fluid flush, serpentine belt, and alignment. The car was still on its original brake pads, which were all >6mm with no issues, so I didn't touch 'em.

The rear alignment requires a special spanner that most non-dealers do not have, so ask in advance if you're going to an independent mechanic. If a pre-purchase inspection was not done, I'd recommend having your mechanic look at the suspension and other various bits and bobs to make sure everything is up to snuff.

Sweet. Thanks man! Will do. I got a full pre inspection, and they said the suspension was in good order. But I'll definitely ask about the alignment.
