  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thanks Sal. Decided to sell the 2011 Toyota Venza (which is a great car). Recently installed solar panels (I live in Southern California) so it will take advantage of that nicely.

I have always liked the Venza. I was surprised to see it cancelled after the first generation. But, it has now made a return. The GV60 is, of course, a big upgrade. Enjoy it! :)

Thanks! Forgot to mention I purchased the Advanced model.

The Venza is not a bad car but the GV60 is a huge upgrade. Enjoy it.
Thanks! Do you guys have a recommendation about the first few charges? Should I follow the 20% - 80% rule or deviate from that? I haven't found any recommendations in my Google searches.

In eleven months I have not taken it on a long trip (I do have a upcoming trip to Las Vegas for a family event but will be renting a minivan as I am going to pick up my daughter and her family at the airport). But I do drive it like I hate it.

I charge it every night to 80% in my garage. I have not yet had to nor used a fast charger.

You have a ten year warranty on the battery so you can do a lot of fast charging (and if you don't have a garage you may have to) but I like to protect the battery and it is very easy to just plug it in every night. I am on a electric rate plan where I should avoid charging between 4 and 7 PM and my car and chargepoint 240 charger wait patiently until after 7 pm to begin charging.

So, assuming you have a garage and a 240 line into your garage or the ability to do so, I would install a home charger (EVSE; I have a 50 amp unit which means I can charge at 40 amps continuously which is more than ample for a gV60) and get on the best rate plan (if you are not already on it) and set up the charging for up to 80% during the lower cost periods. I would install the highest capacity line you can to future protect yourself. Others have said to hard wire the EVSE; I chose to have a plug put in but I don't unplug and replug. I used a plug just in case the unit fails and I have to replace it and don't want to hire an electrician to do that.

We have a busy subforum all about the GV60. Do some checking in there and if you don't find any good answers, you can always start a new topic.

Thanks for the tips Steve!
