I just purchased a CarlinKit TBox Plus and converted my Kplay to a full android tablet using my Kplay2 box. I also had to purchase a USB power data splitter cable because the Kplay usb power was not able to power the CarlinKit TBox Plus. This allow you to install apps from the google play store and run them on the Genesis display with none of the Apple Carplay / Android Auto restrictions.
 
So you still need the kplay that everyone seems to have right? Where do you get the kplay from?

Yes, you will need a carplay/android auto compatible device, so for 2015-2016 9.2 inch screen unit, Kplay is required. I purchased mine from a Korean website that is no longer in service. For the 8 inch screens this should work also without requiring the kplay unit. You can try this email sales@car4play.kr to see if they still sell the kplay unit.
