  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Andy and just purchased a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan as a replacement to my commuter car.

I've driven around 100 miles the past two days and I absolutely love it. It's a vast improvement over my previous "beater" car.

Believe it or not, this will be my "beater" for the foreseeable future (my yearly commute racks up to around 20K miles).

I appreciate how insightful and helpful the threads have been so far (for instance, I was able to source a spare key transmitter through eBay thanks to:

I got mine off of Ebay for $120, heres a link to one. Yeah I would buy it yourself and get a locksmith to program it for you. Im not gonna bother with the mechanical key, I have the app and that does the same thing, opens the doors and trunk.

2017-2018 Genesis G80 Smart Key FOB Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter Genuine | eBay

Now I only have to find a reputable automotive locksmith to cut the key and program the FOB o_O

The four next items on my list are:

1) My car had a front license plate bracket and I promptly removed it (not needed where I live). Unfortunately, there are (4) unsightly holes (small, but noticeable, if you know where to look) -- I will post photos later. Just wanted opinions on how to tackle this -- plastic plugs or bondo and color match the lower bumper.

2) Clear "bra" for nose / front end & side mirrors -- XPEL Platinum Pro (I will post this separately)

3) LED bulbs for the DRLs - any recommendations, without resistors (which may or may not be needed), would be highly welcomed.

4) Weathertech floor liners.

I'm looking forward to engaging with this group and be able to exchange ideas with you all.

Thanks!

Welcome Andy!! Hope you like your 15 as much as I love my 3.8 16 Ultimate(that I happened to find in Tampa Fla..and I am in Michigan). Have had mine since fall of 2019. Will be interested in hearing about your XPEL project. That is something I am considering. To possibly help minimize paint chipping from highway travel. I do not drive this car in the winter here to save it from our road salt. Being retired I then share use of my wifes Ford Edge till the spring thaw when I get her out of hibernation. She gets some Stabil gas treatment and is hooked up to my battery tender in the garage once salt is applied to our roads. I have the Weathertechs and am happy with them

I used screw caps from homedepot to cover up the holes.

Big time upgrade for me - I was driving a 2014 Honda CR-V LX (bare bones) with 110K miles (very reliable, but soulless).

So far I'm loving the power and just overall comfort - it's a gorgeous car for sure.

I will definitely be posting photos of the XPEL "bra" once applied (I'm still doing research on a qualified installer) and keep the community updated on the product.

I'm a fan of Weathertech as well, used to have it back when I lived up north. I don't really need it here in South Florida, but sometimes I do travel to construction sites which can be dusty / muddy.

I've done that with a previous vehicle (Lincoln Navigator) and it was just a temporary fix, because it looked noticeable.

Do you have photos of the plugs on your bumper?
