  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just joined the board after joining other Genesis Sedan forums that were not even close to be active.

So just sharing the mods I have done so far to my Genny, maybe some of you will be inspired or hate what I have done to her.

Appearance Mods so far:

20" Graphite Koko Kuture Lindo Wheels /w Stainless Steel Lip (They are concaved so they look my look a bit off in pictures)

C Mod Sport Grill. Don't know if I am the first to post pics of this particular grill, I know I couldn't find any pictures before my Fiancee bought it for my birthday.

Tint? I don't know if this counts as appearance. 35/20/10 from front to back

Future Mods : Tint the clear part of the tail lights and either tint or open up the headlights and paint them Black. Possible wrapping the roof, and getting the fake wood painted body color.

Welcome. I have my roof wrapped. Cost me $100 with material. Looks awesome too.

IMHO, I would leave the faux wood. Looks better than body color lol

Grill is now a Chrysler. I have never been fond of Black wheels. I prefer AMG style 19" gun metal wheels. Sorry, however, I'm sure many people will like it.

$100 isn't bad...my "hook up" said they would install it for $150...maybe I'll shop around.

Funny you mention AMG because that's the grill reminds me of....Chrysler? Don't see it. First thing I thought when I first saw the Genny was the OE is an eye sore...of course in my opinion...I am sure more people like it than dislike it.

I don't like black rims either....so I made sure not get black rims. Graphite...ftw.

Borrowed from the internet, but much better picture of the 20" Lindos.

See were you going, but this looks closer to me.

Minus the Mercedes badge the structure extremely similar, the 200s has way too many fins, that are much smaller, though I will probably need to change the color of the hood trim....i didn't like the replacement matching piece I was sent.

Then again... Since the part isn't from Chrysler nor does it have any transformative properties... I believe the only apt description is that I have a Genesis with an aftermarket grille.

Nice look, what type of lugs did you use for your concave rims? Did you have any problems with the lug nuts with respect to the same depth on the front and rear rims?

I am the wrong person to ask on that one, all I know about the lugs is I chose black anodized ones, and they are all the same length to my knowledge. I didn't go for the staggered setup, so it would imagine that would not be an issue.

On these particular rims the wider ones have a more pronounced concave, but when they shop was test fitting the staggered setup, everything cleared and they didn't mention anything about needing longer lugs.

I think it looks more like this:

No offense to the OP. He's trying for a distinctive look.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not offended I could list 30 cars that might have a similar grille, but I won't because its pointless.

Hyundai was trying to be unique with the OEM grille, and for me it the biggest eyesore on the car. I am much happier with this grill, especially since its black....never been a fan of body color or chromed out grills.

If it was reminiscent of a Pinto's grill, I certainly wouldn't care as long as I dug it.

I have seen that grill many times over the years, but never on an actual car, so thanks for posting.

May I suggest a couple of new pictures, with the sun at your back? I'm sure both the grill and those wheels will photograph a lot crisper if you do that.

I'm not a fan of black wheels, and because of the shade, I assumed that's what these were, until you said otherwise. They look a TON better on the beemer, not because of the car, but because of the lighting.

Welcome, and keep the pics coming!

Better composition , better lighting and likely an SLR vs my phones camera lol. I'll try to capture a truer representation of the rims and car overall with the lighting suggestion you mentioned ...I don't want to have to keep saying they are graphite lol.

Nice look you have going there. The grill dosen't look bad and it dosen't remined me of the Chrysler.

I am a fan of the OEM grill though when color matched.

The rims look good but not quiet my taste. I would have gone with something lighter in color. Or maybe it's just the light. They probably would look great on a black car as well.

AND it's you car so build it the way YOU enjoy it. ;)

I like that grill for the most part. I think the grill looks good with rims like yours and blacked out headlights.

I've read an article that described the 09-ll grilles as a 'Klingon forehead', and couldn't agree more. I might do an open mesh or paint it like Crusty suggested.

My fiance actually ordered me the open mesh grill, but they messed up and send the sport grille. Funny thing was, I was thinking about telling her not to get me the mesh because its too "open." I was very surprised to open up the box and see the sport grille, but I could not be happier.

The theme I am going for silver with dark accents, hence the grille. Headlights being painted or tinted, as well as the tail lights and mirror turns are next....and wrap the roof. Baby steps, missing the rest of the tie in elements makes the whole picture harder to see.

I'm going for the same thing lol. Same as you I was worried about the open mesh being too open, I think I'll paint the grill first to see if I hate it less. I'm glad you posted a pic because like you say: it's hard to imagine what the cars would look like if _____.

I wanted blacked out headlights as well but went for the tint. Now that I have them I want darker and will go for painted housing (since darker tint will knock out light). I'll post just this as to not hijack your thread, but it'll give you an idea. They're not dark enough for me though:

I'd just paint them.

No worries. Do you know the tint percentage? Was it done locally or did you order it? I was looking at RVinyl's dark smoke as an option.

Painting would be safer for driving since it doesn't impact light out put...I have done them before and I have always found resealing the lamp is a pta.
